People are 20% smarter than they were last year? Doubt it.
If sales would be down 20%, 20% of the people would need to be smarter compared to last year. A 20% increase in overall IQ would be pretty damn cool though.
that's what my joke implied! I doubt that Bloops will sell 25 mil or whatever.

The smartest thing that I ever did with Modern Warfare 2 was return it back in the mail as soon as I got it. I am personally rather bored with all of the samey FPS on the market and the online always feel like a precursor to aspirin abuse, cold compresses, and a misanthropic attitude.

I do not know what to make of Black Ops; it looks like Activision whispered into Treyarch's ears to go in the action movie direction that Modern Warfare 2 took given the weapons and advertising. The most I'll likely give it is a rental, though, as I prefer single player anyway.

One thing that the article implied but didn't seem to say outright: This is a CONSERVATIVE estimate, arguably a worst-case scenario. They need to estimate, for budgeting purposes and the like, how well it will sell.

Personally, I would love to get it, but I'm unable to at the moment (I've only gotten one game this year. Wouldn't change it, though.), and I know several friends that are attending the midnight launch and I definitely think it's this year's biggest title.

On the subject of FPSes and CoD as a whole: They're all screwed, at least at the way it's goign now. The complete dominance of the FPS has to end, or at least abate a little, soon, it can't just keep growing. Hopefully this will lead to innovation on the order of the original Halo or Half-Life. (I say give them better stories.. maybe competitive MP in the actual campaign?) CoD in particular is getting beaten into the ground, same as Guitar Hero. Look at what happened to IW!

to be fair, modern warfares a call of duty spin off :p

i'm not buying COD, i've really started to hate it over the last couple years just due to the fact that my little brother has it and all he does is shout and scream while playing it.
Yeah! Screw the fact that the gameplay is actually pretty solid, the firefights are hectic and fun set pieces and the online is actually really fun! Hate the game because your little brother yells like a constipated parrot... Not trolling here or anything but that's a pretty lame excuse to outright denounce a game, just sayin'.
well i dont have a squawking brother but i hate it for its repetitive gameplay and there unwillingness to change anything
Hmmm... I honestly don't think it's repetitive, nor does it deserve the backlash the community's been dishing out. What I absolutely hate about this game is the camping, good LORD that's an instant downer for me right there, but in all I really like the CoD series. Be honest, now, how many series do you know that have sequels with completely different gameplay from the source material?

RE4 instantly comes to mind, but look at how many RE games had to be released before Capcom upgraded the formula, and even after that look what they did to RE5.

The reason everyone seems to hate this game is because the series has "sold out". Much like Halo, everyone was happy with CoD modern Warfare, but as soon as the sequels started coming along year after year like clockwork, things started to look a bit iffy. Nowadays one can't really say "I like console FPS games" without being denounced as a backwards thinking douche. It happened with Mario (now associated with kiddie titles as opposed to Mario 64), Sonic (furries), Halo(kids and fanboys), Sports games(again, frat boys and the like). It's become something cool to hate and bash and for that... I just say: hate the game, not the gamers. As a game CoD is really good, but as far as gamers are concerned it's lost much of it's cred and become something of a corporate tool.

Activision better hire IW back. Those guys know how to make an intense campaign. Also, IW will just take what was good in black Ops MP and add something of their own and you'll have the best of both worlds. MW2 had a bad MP but I don't think IW would make the same mistakes twice. They did a terrific job in CoD 4 let's not forget that.
