Anarchy: Rush Hour is an exclusive racing game to the PlayStation Network for $8 USD. It's an obvious attempt to cash in on the destruction derby style racing games that were popular a few years ago but have now led to numerous download games in the same genre. That sentence may not have been structure well, but since I'm not gonna bother making a formal review of this game, then go screw.
When I first heard about this game my initial thought was that it's a new installment in the Rush series. But seeing as how there's not apparent connection to be made, I can only assume it was named so in-order to get publicity. Might be a stretch but it makes me feel like I'm useful rather than a complete waste of human life. Anyway, the game is probably one of the worst best purchases I've ever made.
I downloaded this game only yesterday, around 2 PM US Central time, after watching some gameplay videos on YT and can honestly say that seeing isn't believing. Eehh, what a hack.
Everything about this game is just terrible. The graphics are what you'd expect for the seventh generation but the cars themselves aren't very nice looking or fun to drive, and the story is just laughable as is the dialogue.
The story starts off in Russia where we're introduced to Max, a European street racer who apparently gets a call from his girlfriend and travels by train to met her. I say apparently cause when Max gets there he talks and acts like they've never actually met yet also is familiar with her and her apartment. You get the feeling this game was very rushed (aren't I just clever? God I hate reading reviews) as three fourths of the intro cinematic is comic book style animation while the remaining fourth is CG animation that comes off as unfinished. When the characters are talking in their CG form their mouths don't even move. But seeing as how the dialogue is possibly the most unintentionally laughable material I doubt... no, no.
There's ZERO excuse for this. Just cause it's a downloadable game doesn't automatically give it some impunity. I was in the mood for an arcade style racing game but this is horrendous. IGN gave this game a 7/10. I honestly feel that was too generous.
Game mechanics in this game are below basic. Cars handle terribly no matter what model you drive. The only form of brakes that seem to work in this game is wind resistance. And with the whole game being built around stunts/destruction you'd think it would actually work. Burnout and Midnight Club were actually competent and their gameplay worked properly. Anarchy is so below the mark I can't even say it even TRIES to copy what they did.
Also, you have what are known as "Enhancements", or really perks, which go through five levels of upgrades. The first one is obviously boost, second is one to repair your car to prevent in from blowing up, third is to stabilize your car in air (something else taken from Midnight Club), fourth is an electric burst that flips your vehicle for stunts, and lastly a ramming feature to attack other drivers and destroy their vehicles. So we add Full Auto to our list of copied games. Upgrade all five and earn a trophy, cause that's really the only reason to upgrade anything other than the repair perk.
Customization of your vehicle is an option but in all honesty you'll probably just use it to get some trophies tied into the feature. Though the only real useful option is to change tires for different race types, but it doesn't change the grip all that much. Sure tires for maneuverability give your more grip when in deathmatch-style races but you'll still slide the hell all over the "track".
The game features the option to play any songs you have stored on your PS3 but it suffers from what I call EA syndrome where you have to turn down every other sound option to even hear it. (Update: It actually doesn't suffer from it. All the audio options are default at 50% so it's now problem hearing the music when it's option is 100%. But if everything else is 10 across the board then you'll not hear it.)
I honest don't like angry reviews because typically their not written very well, as obvious by this one. (Yeah, I beat you to it before some dill hole could post it) But I just had to write about this.
If you really feel that $8 is worth some easy trophies then go for it. But if you're looking for some real substance in a purchase you?d be better off buying Wolfenstein 3D for $7.
Three Days Later:
Alright, after a few days to relax, I'm gonna be level with you now. Shut up and let me finished! As much as there is wrong with this game, I can't stop playing it. It maybe cause of how absurdly easy to obtain the trophies are or that is gives me this really nostalgic feeling of playing the Rush games again, I really can't say. But I honestly can't just flat out recommend this game. If I was $5 I'd say give it a try, but if I was $10 I would say to stay clear. You can wait till it drops down in price, which I suppose will happen cause not a whole lot of people seem to have this game, as evident by the wasteland that is this game's multiplayer.
Like I said before, if you feel $8 is worth easy trophies then go for it. Budget constraints are clearly no problem for you, but if you'd like more then find something else or wait for a price drop. If you're looking to plat this game though you're best shot if to set up a play date on PS3trophies' forums or the official PlayStation forums cause you'll find NOBODY online. I think I found maybe three in the four days I've owned this game.
EDIT #4: And yes I did notice the similarity to 'Streets of Russia'. Maybe it is a port of the game but according to a few site that games hasn't come out yet so I really don't know.

I know this isn't a good review but it's been a little more than six months since my last and I just feel like making one, so go screw.
Author's Note: I turned off reply/quotation notifications so it maybe a while before you hear back from me. I work nights.
EDIT #1: Included author note at bottom
EDIT #2: Update a little grammar.
EDIT #3: Fixed unfinished sentence about the graphics.
EDITS #4-7: Fixed mistakes made by trying to fix other mistakes.

I would include a clip of the intro but I can't find a video online for it.
Edit #5&6: This game is absurdly long for what little story their is. I don't know who there's characters are and really why should I? Basically, girl gets kidsnapped, guy has to do races for local street racing teams to get info on the kidnappers, he wins races, finds the guys, gets the girl back. (What? Did I ruin it for ya? Too bad. I just saved you $8.) That's all it is. You never learn anything about Max, the girl or even the racing syndicates. It's abysmal.
