So im down in the amazon, right? And this flesh eating flower with a stinger stings me in the head, filling it with poison, making me for some reason want to know from the awesome Escapist Community, what ancient kingdom would you have loved to live in? Why? It doesnt have to be super ancient, you can choose imperial Britain in the 1400's, or it can be some ancient tribe no ones heard about. Or make one up, whatever.
Personally, I choose the Teutonic Kingdom, under Frederick Barbarossa, who tried to redo the Holy Roman Empire!

The Galactic Empire, preferably with an Imperial Star Destroyer and a VERY good PR guy for when the New Republic show up... What? It's ancient. It happened long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. As for civilisation in this galaxy, I'm gonna say Victorian England, but with more steampunk. LOTS more steampunk. And without the American colonies winning that rebellion of their's under George's reign.

greek
how can you not like them!
they have the spartans!!
Well, if your thinking of that time, different parts of greek were entirely different, want to be a Spartan? I hope you having your instructor as your lover, being taken away from your mum and being put through intense pain.

I would choose the Greeks under the reign of Alexander the Great when he made harmony with all the states of Greece.

Greek, they were the only real intellectual powerhouse.
Not really, there is India around 400 AD for a start.
Ooooooh right, but it was before that too, wasn't it?
A lot of the influential Greek philosophers were long before that, yes. I'm not any sort of expert on the timeline of human thought by country or anything but I think that Confucious in China was around the same time. Greek philosophers are well know in the west but that is largely because a lot of Romans had Greek educations and the Romans conquered most of our countries.

i'd have to say the celts, who can refuse mass orgies and hot women and they were the first to sack Rome and basically over run the Roman empire

Correct. Also, there were numerous important Chinese philosophers before Confucious, though none that could match his legacy.

I would like to be a great merchant/inventor during the height of the Tang Dynasty. Probably the richest empire to have existed before the industrial revolution, with great feats of engineering, science, mathematics, and culture all done during these years.

Ancient Rome would be fun too, but I'll take Byzantine Empire. I want to live in Constantinople during the height of that city.
