Well, i have sims complete collection installed on my computer, and i had a lot of fun with it once upon a time, until my idiot brother got a hold of it. Didn't see it again for a year and a half.

Well, i finally found the box, and inside were disks 2, 3, and 4, right where they belonged. Disk 1 was there but it was broken down the middle and little pieces were in there. Turns out my dumb brother broke it but put it back in and tossed it into a box the day we moved and thought i wouldn't notice.

I emailed EA about it, and explained what happened. The guy told me either to mount the exe on a fake cdrom drive, and pointed me to daiman tools for it, or to download a nodisk exe.

i received no further help from them.

Well i tried the fake disk drive thing, and it failed, even when i clicked the exe from the "disk" drive itself.

I got a no disk exe, but it does something weird. The problem is, when i go to play, it seems fine, and it goes through the whole "it will take sometime" and "Please wait for them to" thing when they load, and it shows the red arrow over the starter house, i cannot click anything, and then it restarts the loading thing.

At first i thought it was the exe, but then a friend with the game burned me a copy of disk 1, so i could play it again, and it does the same thing.

Is there a fix for this?

Well this probably won't be any help at all, but if you are by some strange coincidence running OSX, you can just rename your Hard Drive on your desktop to the game name. Worked for me with Age of Empires II when I couldn't find the disk.

If you're on windows I'm not sure what you should do

I would love to buy a new one, but i have no bank account to get anything online, and i really just want to kill my old sims.

@Pararaptor: Do you know of one that won't eat my OS? i mean it is vista but i still need it.

I'd blame it on Vista. Its a damn old game and Vista is a damn new (and shithouse) OS.
They have problems with getting a lot of XP designed programs to run smoothly, let alone ones that old.

I'd think that all you would have to do is un-install the game, then try to re-install it with the burned cd from your friend. Or is this what you tried already? Because if you are running a copy of the game that is clean, or working so to speak, but a disk that was not clean has been used at any point on that install, sometimes that can mess up the preformance whether or not the copy you are using at the moment is fine. So just delete it from your computer, and then re-install it with a working copy.

well, i got it off my computer, but my idiot brother threw the other disks away. nevermind i'm the one who paid for it. Mom isn't even making him replace it. I hate children. Oh well, i'll see if my friend will burn me the rest of the cds, since i called the game store in town and they don't have it.

Wow your brother's an idiot.

Why would you throw away the discs? That doesn't make any sense...

Oh, that sucks. I'm kind of glad I'm an only child sometimes. Anyways, good luck torturing sims, not that I've ever done that or anything.
