Let me explain.
Today was my schools annual inter-house gala, which management had been excited about some time. The weather forecast said that it was meant to rain, the school knew this and their response was something along the lines of "We will carry on through rain or snow, because of our ridiculously small penises, which we feel we must compensate for." So the gala night came and everything was going fine. The teachers were all in comfy chairs, and we were on the stands, not really caring about the swimming, the norm. Suddenly a lightening storm struck and it took my school about 10 minutes to think "maybe it's not such a good idea to make people swim in a thunder storm". In the midst of the rain I called my mother, who came to pick me up, and it was on the way home that I realised "Holy shit, I'm in the middle of a flash-flood". It was crazy, the car almost didn't make it up the hill because of all the water on the road, and we mates mom's car was chest deep in water. The storm passed in about 30 minutes to an hour, and I was in no immediate danger, but it got me thinking about how, under different circumstances, I could have been in a lot of trouble.

Basically what I'm asking is if any of you has ever been in a situation where you thought "this could end very badly." And don't tell me how you did something stupid with your mates, that's not what I'm asking.

Just the other day me and a few friends were coming back from the surf in a bay about two hours from where we live. To get to the bay, you have to drive for about an hour and a half, then the last half hour is on a treacherous gravel road half way up a flippin mountain.

Anyway, it was raining as we were coming back, and my friend who was driving lost control of the car coming around the last corner. We were sliding frictionlessly straight for the edge, so he wildly swung the steering wheel the other way and the car started sliding straight for the mountain side wall, so he swung wildly the other way and we went straight back to the cliff, to which he responded by swinging the other way and we started drifting straight towards the mountain side again. Finally, after four iterations, he regained control of the car again. We turned out alright, but it was pretty damn terrifying being in a car that slid uncontrollably past, a mere foot from certain death - twice. And for that matter nearly into a wall of rock - twice.

A couple of years ago, i was on the bus home and it'd began to rain pretty heavily. So i think, 'its okay just a bit of rain. Nothing to be bothered about right?' I was wrong.

By the end of that night there was a good foot of water already pooling in the streets and in our garden.
It rained for a couple of days more, we'd begun to move our stuff upstairs to avoid the rain flooding our valuables.
It had its bright sides though, we got some time off school and my mates came over to pick me up in their canoe.
