Androgynous Video Game Characters

It might just be me, but I notice that one of the most common complaints against Japanese games are its androgynous characters. And off of the top of my head, from all the games I have played, I can only name 2, so I was just wanting to see if anyone can name anymore, or what not. I'm starting to think that "downside" is incredibly invalid.

So...

1) Loran Cehack from the Dynasty Warrior: Gundam series(Turn-A Gundam)

From the look of the character, you can kind of seeing leaning a bit before the male side, but the main conributing factor to being on this list, is his unlockable costume once you complete his story mode, with the costume being this:

Which leads to a few people questioning his gender on a lot of the Dynasty Warrior forums or what not

2)Vaan from Final Fantasy XII

It's kind of hard to tell with this image but his main character look from FF12, the bare chest helps..but still...ehhh..=/

The 2nd one I thought was a guy.

I've said this time and time again, as long as the character works within the storyline and isn't being exploited as "edgy" or is just some dumb idea, then by all means, be as mysterious as you want to be about your sexuality. Make the story work with it, shape the character into actually having a purpose to be that way, and its fine with me.

With Loran this is actually on purpose. Originally the character was supposed to be a girl. Executive Meddling (tm) said that japanese anime audiences weren't ready for an action girl heroine (which = 0 sense for the GUNDAM series because of all the female pilots, but oh well), so the creator made him the GIRLIEST BOY HE COULD POSSIBLY MAKE.

Trust me, I'm very annoyed by the whole "Japanese characters are shemales" thing. If the internet's much of an indication, I have some super gender-distinguishing power.

So yeah, while they certainly exist both intentional (Bridget) and not (some examples posted here), it really is not anywhere near as big an issue as so many here like to believe.

Aren't most characters within any JRPG usually androgynous. Well, the only way I've ever been able to tell them apart was the breasts, unless Tifa is smuggling water melons...

My first thought was Haku from Naruto, even though that's an anime, not a game.

It actually becomes something of a joke in the anime. In the above scene, Naruto is talking to him thinking he is a girl (I think he even calls him "miss" at some point, but I could be wrong). As Haku is walking away, however, he looks over his shoulder and says "Oh, by the way, I'm a boy.", which causes Naruto to freak out.

Eh, really, anyone who thinks Japanese stuff sucks just doesn't get it. There's a lot of good stuff, some people are just incapable of appreciating things outside their realm of understanding. Their loss. This crap is just not true: sometimes it happens, and when it does, it's creepy, but it's usually on purpose. Most guys look like guys and most girls look like girls: some people just aren't familiar enough with Japanese art to tell the difference. Again, their loss.
