TL;DNWR?
Blacklight: Tango Down is a UT3 based game by indie developer zombie and is Avalible On Steam, XBLA and PSN.
Set in the Mid future, You can play as an elite force called the Black light, or ex military forces called the order.
The game features lots of weapon customization, too much in fact, and makes it boring to wade through the changes.
Its totted as an 'Action multiplayer and co-op' game. Ultimately, A lack of players and the core game play lets it down as something to be passed up. Even with players, you won't find yourself on this game for too long.

Gameplay
Blacklight: Tango Down fetures two modes. A four-player co-operative mode called "Black Ops". Similar To terrorist hunts in Rainbow Six Vegas games, or the MW Black ops (or whatever they're called
) missions. You have a set objective and have to fight through Enemy Forces.
These Can be played with up two four players. However, nobody is playing them so good luck on that. There are 3 Very linear missions, which are basically them same thing on different maps. For some strange reason, you also have to fight "infected" which are basically humans with sticks that rush you - A very badly disguised attempt to spice up same-y gameplay.
These will on last you an hour, tops. But are fun for a bit, with some nice set pieces and pacing. The Ai is competent and interesting. However on a second play through you know where they are and don't really produce much of a challenge. Once again, an hours enjoyment, tops.
The meat of the game would be the multiplayer. This draws it roots from twitch based game play of CS and similar titles.
Here you will earn the xp needed to level up and unlock gun parts. These are your standard affair from different armours with differing speed, firepower (lulwut?) and health attributes; same with the guns. The guns stats can be changed by Different scopes, magazines, barrels, stocks and so forth. They also add Charms, Which are things to attach and affect its attributes.
This all sounds good on paper, but doesn't work all that well. The amount of choice is overwhelming, with over 100 charms, and about 7 different types of gun part, it takes the fun out of changing the gun. They where right when they said you could get any gun to suit you but have sacrificed enjoyment to get it. The process isn't helped by a dodgy interface either.

When you can find a game, that is.
The game has died on launch, and with 100+ minutes into the game, I have only played two multiply matches. The ones I did play however, where fun, with you having to sneak around to get your kill, before they find you.
The actual core game play is rather addictive and fun. The guns handle nicely, the sniper rifle isn't just a one hit wtfpwn gun - It requires you to lead the target due to the round being a fast moving projectile. The movement is fluid and smooth, and it feels like they really put effort into this part of the game. Not only that, but the most original idea for flash bangs and smoke grenades ever. Seriously, look at these!

Awful.
Ok, lets backup.
First, I want to discuss the interface. Look at it, its horrible it requires arrows keys to work through effectively, is crowded and confusing. Icky. The Gun management screen is worse, with no help, useful guidance or indication to what's changing what.

Next, we have in game graphics. Brown. Its a massive shame really, because I feel this game could have looked and felt amazing with a borderlands style art direction. Sure, anyone can have pretty particle effects in the UT3 engine, but that's not the point, it's actually hard to pick out targets in the brown, they just blend in!
Some bits and bobs made me go, 'oh cool' But nothing was really spectacular, again, a missed opportunity by Zombie
Little Gems
The flashbangs and smoke grenades. Look at them again, look at them!
The HUD. Really helps with immersion, feels like Metroid Prime.
The Ai; Can really put up a good fight; they cover each other, move from cover to cover, suppress you and can aim well. It will glitch a fair few times, but is good overall.

Final words
Blacklight:Tango Down saddens me. It's a prime example of how a good idea and core gameplay can be ruined by bad execution. Too many options leaves the player stressed to find the best combo, the art makes it seem generic and doesn't help it stand out. Liitle-no players means you won't really get to experience good game play.
Save your 10 pounds and go buy some air time.
