A lot of people are against eating meat as they consider it cruel to the animals. By becoming vegetarian they may feel they are personally absolved of guilt regarding the slaughter. Of course meat is not the only thing we get from animals, if we consider only the products that involve the death of the animal then there are substances produced that are found in:

* Washing powder and fabric conditioner
* Cosmetics
* Soft drinks
* Cooking
And a thousand other things.

So if you are against eating meat for ethical reasons how do you feel about these products? While you are willing to give up clean clothes or your favourite face cream?

May I ask a question? (apart from that one) ... well two questions really. What kind of stuff is used in these products? And is this stuff the reason certain animals are killed, or are animals killed for meat or something, then the non-meat stuff is used for other products?

I think most people who are vegetarian or vegan for ethical reasons do avoid products that contain animal byproducts.

Well there are substances like gelatin or tallow which are made from the left-overs from an animal once the 'choice cuts' have been taken away.

gelatin [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelatin] is made from the leftovers from cows and pigs as shown below.

Tallow [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallow] is made by liquefying the bones, fat and other leftovers from dead sheep.

As far as i know these products are only made as a secondary product after the meat as they are the leftovers of an animal, though that may not always be the case.
