Anime fansubs

i have watched fansubs for years, and i have noticed that i know nothing about them, i thought they were the guys who translate and subbed the animes for us fans but i was told all they do is rip them off other sites and post them, im not sure but that sounds extremely pointless, why cant we do this ourselves? am i missing something or what?

That's wrong. Fansubs are when a group of people decide to put translated subtitles into an anime or what-have-you, then release it to the intarwebz.

What you're probably thinking of is a recent movie being subbed, but since the subs have already been done before for camrips, they're just being pulled from that, retimed, and put into the new release.

okay thats what i was looking for, because i was watching a fairy tail episode and i noticed a spelling error and i decided to let horriblesubs know. next thing i know im being cursed at and told they dont do that.

Yup. That's why you don't contact the people who sub something and just enjoy what you watch. Nothing good ever comes from contacting them.

Yup. That's why you don't contact the people who sub something and just enjoy what you watch. Nothing good ever comes from contacting them.
