The Dragonba... Oh.

Well, I'd actually like them to redo it but do it according to canon and no deviating. They may be able to make a series out of it. And make the special effects better... and change the actors... and get a better hairstyle for Goku... and I'm so annoyed it turned out shit.

I honestly can't think of any I want to be live action but if any were, I would like to see Fruit's Basket as live action. I think that could be cool.

Hey... I thought it was really good after seeing the anime. It actually went better then it could have been. Could have been worse.

Isn't the whole reason people like Anime down to the art style?

The writing is no better than Western stuff, nor is the voice acting - the only difference is art style...

Why get rid of the one thing it's got going for it...?
Absolutely not, I generally find the anime art style overly generic at the best of times. As for the writing I'd agree with you for the most part, but there are some shining examples of well written anime out there.

If done right, Cowboy Bebop could make an amazing transition into live action, especially given that its subject matter is already westernised. Akira is another one, and I'm pretty sure that's already in the works.
I personally like anime because in (most) cases the creators plan out the end with a foreseeable end in the near future. With American shows, they just drag it on until it gets so bad people stop watching it and it gets canceled.
Yeah that's true; it's nice to see a series made with a definitive end in mind. That said, they do tend to milk certain series with special editions, alternate endings, remakes etc. Yes, yes I’m looking at you NGE.

Well I did say some of them. There are still some series that follow the western philosophy of run it till it's dry(Inuyasha, Bleach, etc.)

Also, I keep pressing reply instead of quote. )L:

Goldenboy. I absolutely HATED the anime, but I MIGHT be interested in seeing it in a live-action format (direct to video, of course).

So I was just reading a thread about Cowboy Bebop and it got me thinking which anime would you like to see in a live action film.

Note: Please don't talk about the Dragonball film, yes I know it was bad but that doesn't mean any other future live action anime films would be the same.

Note 2: Please don't say none of them, try and think of one that you actually think would have some sort of entertainment value.

I would like to see a Black Lagoon film.

Does anyone else think that Samuel L Jackson would make a good Dutch.
hahaha dude good idea man black lagoon was awesome but thr movie makers vill probably fuck it up

That's funny, Death Note murdered Death Note for me.

Trigun's spaghetti western aesthetic would translate pretty well too, methinks

None of them.

Anime was not meant to transfer into live action.

That's why it's animated.

I know we're not supposed to say "none of them" but I cannot honestly think of a single anime series that would be "enhanced" in any way by an adaptation into a live-action film. The most a live-action version can hope to do is draw attention to the original series, which means your multi-million dollar motion picture is nothing more than an expensive commercial.

The problem with adapting a well-known, bestselling, and much-loved series is that no one would settle for a small-budget independent film of it, even if that crew is far more dedicated and appreciative of the source. Instead, we want these big-budget Hollywood producers and A-List stars and directors, but only because we can't imagine a small, indie film made by unknowns; it's easier and more fun to dream-cast when you know all the players.

Okay, I'm not going to be completely closed-minded about this: I wouldn't mind a live-action film that borrows the setting of an anime series. A spin-off would allow you to focus on other characters and create something able to stand on its own, but with enough nods and references that the hard-core fans don't feel alienated. For example, Outlaw Star had Angel Links, a series almost completely unrelated to the original except by way of setting and a few characters. If Angel Links had been live action instead of animated, there wouldn't be any fuss or hullabaloo about what actor would play Gene Starwind or Jim Hawking or Shimi or Hazanko, because they wouldn't be there. You'd have a little side-story, with all the staples and conventions of Outlaw Star, that can stand completely on its own, but can still appeal to the fans.

No. No I don't. I never saw it but I did see on IMDB where it had Death Note down for 2011.

Maybe. I'm not sure how old Dutch was suposed to be though. I still can't think of a good Revy. I keep coming back to Summer Glau, as a good Revy but I don't think she's badass enough, and she's pretty badass in Serinity...but, then again, even though Black Lagoon is one of my favorites, it will probably end up as just another bullshit Hollywood blockbuster.

As for my choice....Clover. That would be one of the greatest movies ever. Or Uzumaki. That would freak the shit out of me. No book has ever scared me until I read Uzumaki. I still cringe every time I see the snail people...

My contribution: Stop trying to give Hollywood producers ideas. They will not make a good (live or otherwise) version of your favorite anime.
