Key difference is that one is a Japanese comic book, the other is a Japanese cartoon.

Manga means comics. In Japan, the word manga is used about all comics, everything from Naruto to Spider-man, but in the Western world, manga means "Japanese comics".
Anime is what you watch on TV, or in a movie theater.

Slightly more, manga doesn't automatically mean all comic books, things like visual and light novels while sometimes displayed the same way are considered different (the preceeding bit of information was completely useless and will never come up often enough for you to remember it).

Also, you'll hear the term "manhwa" or "manwa", this typically refers to korean comic books.

EDIT: It's also pronounced to sound like Monga, with a deep capital A.

Anime is animated and on the television internet and movies. Manga is usually comic books but can be animated but it it refers to it being hand drawn as far as I know. Anime being done on comptuers entirely I think not 100% sure.

Anime is a Japanese cartoon, and Manga is a Japanaese Comic Book. Most Manga have an Anime and vice-versa.

My favorite Anime is Yu Yu Hakusho, and my favorite Manga is Eyeshield 21, :D

anime is animated, while manga is in grahic novel form. There are subtle differences as well...
A anime ,lets make the anime call bleach the example, may have slightly different dialogue as it's manga counterpart. Also while manga is know for mostly going straight forward with the plot with few stops in between, An anime will likely have what is called filler episodes(filler are episodes the stray from the main plot or side stories) to make the series last longer on teli, or for the shear aspect of the creators and studios to have more financial gain. This may cause the Anime plot to fall very far behind the manga format of the series. (there are rare cases that the anime may take a completely different direction with the plot than the manga resulting in to completely different stories. (Example the BLEACH manga by tite kubo is far ahead of the anime version. Also the anime bleach had the audacity to make an entire season of filler) hope this is a detailed enough explanation

This thread could have worked with ONE POST...yet there is already a page full.

The threadstarter already said it is obvious to him now, because nearly EVERY POST SAID THE SAME!

the Japanese vowels pronounce "a" with an "AH" sound so it's pronounced mAHngAH in Japanese but this is english not japanese, so feel free to pronounce an skewer it in any damn way you bloody see fit. English speaking countries do it everyday, like the way we call it spanish but they call it Espanol
