Anime Recommendation Challenge!

I am looking for an anime with the following qualities

1) A romance
2) Involves the main characters actually having sex
3) Not Hentai or Ecchi

That second bit doesn't have to be on camera or anything. I'm just hoping for a romance where the characters realize they have genitals, without it being intended as erotic. As far as I've looked, this doesn't seem to exist (though I'm hoping one of you all will have a good recommendation).

It seems weird, because romance + sexual relationship shouldn't be that hard to find. I mean, they rather go hand in hand. So why is anime so... extreme about this type of thing? Makes no sense.

My first suggestion would be Onegai Sensei, it's very light hearted but still romantic and pulls on the heartstrings in all the right ways, it also has all the qualities you're looking for.
Now if you're after something a bit more adult, not adult in the ecchi or H kind of way, but adult in a "wow, this situation can't possibly get any worse" kind of way, School Days may be your kind of thing. This is not an anime for the light hearted or for the mentally unprepared and I actually couldn't finish it, not because the show itself is bad, but because the ending was spoiled for me and I couldn't bear to see it come to pass.

It takes a darker turn in the ending, but... yeah, that's a romance, and the characters do have sex, but it's not ecchi (from what I can remember, they don't show anything too bad) and definitely not hentai.

...I hesitate to recommend that though.

Death Note. There's romance of sorts, if a little one-sided, between Light and Misa. And they do have (off-screen) sex in the course of their relationship, as said relationship in the anime lasts several years. And it's certainly not hentai or ecchi, by any means. Plus, Death Note is awesome anyway, so yeah...

Try that one, it's on Netflix streaming and it's only 6 episodes.

If you're main thing is sex but not Hentai that one's good.
There is romance in it but it's not about the romance.

Shoot. If you'd opened that up to manga, I could recommend Ai Yori Aoshi or Tsubasa: Those With Wings. Or Absolute Boyfriend, for that matter.

Actually, the one anime I can think of off the top of my head that fulfills all three of those is Shingetsutan Tsukihime.

I mean, it's only a <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.142352-TYPE-MOON-reviews-Shingetsutan-Tsukihime-anime>mildly-above-average anime that very poorly adapts an <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.128851-TYPE-MOON-reviews-Tsukihime>awesome visual novel, to be sure. However, unusually for a visual novel, it doesn't remove the sex in the original story, but just moves it mostly offscreen.
