I just finished watching episode 26. I have to say my interest in the series just plummeted... I guess I'll keep watching just to see how it plays out.Dirand said:Honestly would not recommend watching death note past episode 26, the series really drops the ball after that point. I wont spoil anything but if you get that far you will see why.
^ YES, MOAR OF THAT ^BX3 said:seitokai yakuindomo - This show is like if a JP animation studio and Comedy Central somehow took on physical form and had dirty, dirty sex (which is fitting, given its subject matter). It's pretty damn hilarious and quite off-beat compared to other slice-of-life comedies I've seen.
I remember I needed to find some light comedy to watch after having watched Clannad. Choosing one at random from a list of ongoing series, I ended up with the Kiss x sis OVAs...Raven said:^ YES, MOAR OF THAT ^BX3 said:seitokai yakuindomo - This show is like if a JP animation studio and Comedy Central somehow took on physical form and had dirty, dirty sex (which is fitting, given its subject matter). Was a hysterical series and the perfect light comedy show to watch between heavy shows like Clannad and Bakaemongatari...
I made the mistake of trying to watch Black Lagoon almost immediately after I finished Kanon, unfortunately it just put me right off BL.Jonluw said:I remember I needed to find some light comedy to watch after having watched Clannad. And Seitokai yakuindomo was certainly very fun. Sometimes you just need some perverted, carefree slice of life.
I don't know how Yakuindomo would work for curing post-series blues (I imagine it'd do well though), but Kiss x sis doesn't exactly stop at the innuendo...Raven said:I made the mistake of trying to watch Black Lagoon almost immediately after I finished Kanon, unfortunately it just put me right off BL.Jonluw said:I remember I needed to find some light comedy to watch after having watched Clannad. Should have known sex jokes and innuendo was the way to cure any post-series-blues...
Okay, but I have to watch El Cazador de La Bruja and Garden of Sinners first. Thanks for the recommendation.Dango said:That description makes me really want to recommend Bokurano to you. Seriously, go watch it, it's one of my favorites.Xpwn3ntial said:SNIP.
OT: As usual, I will recommend Clannad. It's by far the most touching and emotional anime I've ever seen. It may seem a bit cliched at first, but stick with it, it really is something very special. Also, you will cry, and you will cry a lot.
Edit: Actually, I'll recommend Bokurano to you too, op. It's a kind of dark anime in a depressing sort of way, and it has a fantastic plot.
Double edit: And if you want something totally un-cliche, watch "Working!!". It is one of the funniest and most original animes ever.
Ha, yeah I've had to think twice about some of the animes I've shown to people who aren't used to it. Something like yakuindomo would probably come off as really immature but it's actually pretty tame, all things considered...Jonluw said:I don't know how Yakuindomo would work for curing post-series blues (I imagine it'd do well though), but Kiss x sis doesn't exactly stop at the innuendo...
The weird thing is that I sort of ended up liking Kiss x sis, and even showed it to two female friends of mine; one of which wondered if I had some sort of incest fantasy. Heh. Probably shouldn't have done that.
Kanon didn't really have that much of an effect on me. It was a nice story; touching and all, but after having had my feelings thorougly beaten into submission by Clannad, Kanon just wasn't strong enough to create a similar effect.
Huh. That's actually the next Kyoani series on my list as well. I figured since I liked Clannad so much, I'd have to get around to watching the other ones.Raven said:Ha, yeah I've had to think twice about some of the animes I've shown to people who aren't used to it. I saw Kanon first at the recommendation of a friend so at the time, Kanon (2006) version, was the epitome of heart crushing misery fest... I think I handled Clannad better as I was expecting it to an extent (especially after story). But in all fairness, Clannad spent 4-5x longer on one girl whereas Kanon had to go through 5 in half the time. Though I'd definately say Tomoyo and Nagisa's story was by far the most heart wrenching...
I still think of Kanon as being pretty darn sad though, I think if it was produced after Clannad, it would have been better. They've (as a studio) really improved with each series. I'm going to check out Air next...
