Hellooo everybody! I'm back for another Digimon Review (Possibly my last).

To those of you who don't know who I am, I am Catkid906, and for a while now, I've been reminiscing about Digimon. I remembered it was my favourite show as a kid, so I decided to watch the Anime Shows and films again. My previous reviews are Here, Hereand here, no wait, not there. Ah Yes, Here. Oh, I also have this Retrospective review of Digimon World, but I'm not proud of it, as I'm being biased in it. Hereit is in case you want to see it.

Now onto the topic.

Digimon Tamers (Season 3) Review

Now, being a fan of Digimon, it would be wrong of me not to watch this, as this one is apparently the greatest one ever. No joke, ever since i started these reviews, I have had people telling me, both in Public and Privately, to watch this. So I have, and Guess what my reaction was?

Holy mother of God! Why aren't they all like this!

Digimon Tamers takes place in a different Universe as Digimon Adventures, which is a positive step, as Digimon Adventures wrapped everything up in a sickly wrapper. Also, Davis doesn't exist, which is a positive step from every angle! Although he is the Last time/To Be Continued Narrator, and Christ he can't even do that well, but at least he hardly appears.

Anyway, the story is, is that Digimon is a major franchise in the real world (you know, like it was 8 years ago! Which is actually when this is set so hurray). People watch the shows, play the card games and the video games. The story mainly focuses around 3 characters, but later expands that as the series goes on.

Takato is our first character, an imaginative kid who often day dreams but because of his huge imagination, he often predicts the worst of situations. His Imagination makes him design his very own Digimon in his notebook, and when his Digimon Card Reader turns into a Digivice, his first instinct is to swipe his creation in the card slot. This creates his Partner, Guilmon. Guilmon is a Dinosaur/Dragon like Digimon who is fun loving and sounds like he has a constant cold, but thats the point of his character as he is meant to be a little goofy. However, being a Digimon that Takato created, he has no Knowledge whatsoever. It takes him a while to learn how to talk for a while, which Digimon can usually do from Birth due to inheriting memories and Data. Takato claims that Guilmon is just a guy in a suit in public, but hides him from his parents, as they would make him get rid of him.

Henry is the second main star in this place. He is a half Japanese, half Chinese person, and his father plays a surprising part in the series. He is a pacifist, for reasons which we think we know, but his back story goes in depth, goes deeper. He acquired his partner when he wished to be with Terriermon, his partner, when he saw he was hurt on the game his Dad got him. Terriermon is a fun loving, happy-go-lucky Digimon, who has his own catchphrase, sort of. It's "Momentai"(Spelling Probably wrong) which means take it easy but actually means no problem. Henry Hides Terriermon by pretending he is a stuffed animal, who Suzie, Henry's little sister, absolutely adores, much to Terriermon's dismay.

Rika is the final person in the main character roster. She is a Tom-boy, and, of course, there are reasons for that. Reasons which are Gob-smacking-ly good, but in the series is only mentioned once, briefly. You have to see the Feature length episode Runaway Locomon to get her back-story (Don't worry, it's worth it). Her mom is a model, and there is nothing Rika hates more than having to dress up pretty. Her Partner Renimon, a honourable Ninja like Digimon who wants the same thing Rika wants for her. To be strong. They met when Rika wished for the strongest Digimon Partner ever after winning a Tournament for the umpteenth time, hence she is known as the Digimon Queen.

Oh and there is also a Digimon called Calumon, a happy, like REALLY happy all the time Digimon, which, dare I say, is cute! He is a Digimon who doesn't know much about the Human world and really, just wants to play, and wishes he didn't have to help the fighting, but helps the Tamers if they need it.

There is also Impmon, a Digimon who thinks he's better than he really is. and I guess you could say stereotypical, but I like him. Regardless of what is said.

Here are all the Main Characters, posing for box art.

All these Characters in this are represented well. They all have a back story and clearly the actors weren't handed the script on Day 1, they actually worked on their voices. Huzzah for people using their brains.

The show is mainly about friendship usually, but this time, it has taken a much darker route to the other Digimon Series'. The Tamers (Not Digi-destined, T-A-M-E-R-S), all have to work on themselves individually with something. Such as Takato with Responsibility, Henry with Morals, and Rika with how she acts. That may sound awful, but it isn't as it's just my impression, and I am not good at describing things. Hell I probably couldn't even describe the matrix.

The action (As this is another point of the show) has been improved immensely. The fighting no longer boils down to I can kill you instantly if I'm this Digimon, so I'll Digivolve to that one. No, there is a struggle that goes on in the fight. And at least the Big Bad villain has an epic fight! Not a 2 minute fight accompanied with flashbacks, or being killed by the wishes of children across the world!

The animation of the series has been improved since the last outing, which is also good. The colours are right, and the details are top notch. And even the Dubs are great!

There are a few bad points. The English Dub is Censored, much more than I would like, and i wouldn't know if it wasn't for Wikipedia. If you don't mind reading Subtitles then go for that one. Some of the names will be different, but I'm sure that Youtube has some posted up. The English dub isn't that censored mind. The flashes of light every time someone attacks have been made to a minimum, mainly just when it's Human violence, especially because these Tamers are meant to be 12 in the English dub (10 in Japan).

There are 2 Feature length episodes (call them movies if you want). Runaway Locomon is One of I've said before, and is worth a watch, but has a few errors in it, which Digimon Fans will notice, but explores Rika's past, and is almost certainly worth a watch. Battle of the Adventurers is another one, and is in the same style as the other Digimon Films, such as the Movie, and Revenge of Diaboromon (I never reviewed it because I found it to be too short to be worth a mention). Both of the Films are good but could have been better, as Disney acquired the rights to Digimon, BUT them being stupid they decided to:
1: Give it all a special retarded Disney Edit, meaning white flashes are back.
2: Not get the rights to have the tamer music in, so They have put music in from what I presume is Digimon Frontier.

The series starts out above average at first. A rather standard Digimon job, but with deep characters, but then, just past 25 episodes in. It really picks up. and I mean, it REALLY does. It's what turns it from an average thing, to an epic Anime.

Jeri, Takato's friend, has probably got the biggest back story about her, as when she lost her mother, she was distraught, and believed no-one could ever replace her. So when her step-mother tried to become friends with her, but she rejected her. And when she loses Leomon, her partner, she believes that her destiny is just to be miserable. And so, she does. Her empty feelings on Humanity make her the perfect target for the D-reaper. This causes her to remember the horrors of when her mother died, make her think that Leomon's death was her fault. Her reminisces of her mothers death is truly terrifying for children.

And then there's the ending, when all the Digimon are being forced to go back to the Digital World by Henry's Dad, without the others knowing before hand. He claims it is for the best, and he says "Don't worry Henry, in time, you'll feel better." Henry just looks at him, tearful, and shakes his head, as if to say "No dad, you don't understand." This shocked me, when a boy rejects his Dad's comforting words so calmly.

Bottom Line: Digimon Tamers is a beautiful Anime, which approaches the series with the storyline of a complex older anime, and makes it suitable for children and older people alike.

Recommendation You have to watch this. It is far too good to pass up. Watch it with your kids, and know that in the end. They will benefit from it, and you will have a good time.

This may be my last review, as the Nostalgia has gone. I have never, ever seen Frontier or Data squad. Not one bit of any. Blame Disney for not allowing the UK to have it, as we don't get anything.

Ah, I remember watching this series a few years ago. I remember it being much more engaging than the other series.

I also remember thinking that it was a cross between Digimon and The Matrix.

All in All, it was a great series. Definitely agree that people should watch it.

This is still my favorite anime ever.

And don't forget about Impmon's story, either.

I put so much into this review, I knew that there'd be something I'd forget. There's too much depth to this, it's like the ocean, I swear.
