A word of warning: not for the easily confused
It took me some time to figure out most of what is going on...

I tried watching both the anime and the first half of the manga, because I expected at the very least an essence of supernatural mystery somewhere in it, with characters chasing out problematic spirits like Mushishi.

If I'd known I'd have to sit through watching Yuko's kleptomaniac, nonsensical, at times even contradictory lessons and actions, Watanuki making the same recycled "don't tread on me" jokes from the very first episode, and his completely doomed to stay in the friendship circle forever romance with his girlfriend, I wouldn't have bothered.

The anime and manga both drag horribly, and keep a status quo which NEVER changes. No one is added. No one evolves or learns anything which helps them visibly grow. The protagonist is the EXACT same pushover that his friends and acquaintances lean on that he was at the beginning.

I haven't finished either the manga or anime, and I have no intention of doing either. Maybe it's because I'm spoiled by a moving plot, but this was just NOT my cup of tea.
