Hinaichigo's death. Also everything Suigintou goes through. And Barasuishou at the end of the second season.

The last episode. The scene when Rakka confronts Reki about her problems is without a doubt the most emotional thing I have ever watched. if you do not cry during that scene, then you have no soul.

Satoko and Shion's deaths in Meakashi-hen, both times Keichi confronts Rena and his apology to Mion in Tsumihoroboshi-hen, Takano's backstory, and absolutely everything in Matsuribayashi-hen.

Seriously? Do I really need to explain it?? If you don't know, watch the damn show!
Now to that my good sir I only have one thing to say, manly tears are acceptable for that scene.

Elfen Lied. First off it was a depressing cry but then it was a happy cry.
Angel Beats!. Just such an awesome end to a funny/serious anime.

In Princess Mononoke, I get a little choked up at the part near the beginning when Ashitaka is exiled from his village. I think it's so sad when the old man talks about how their people have faced such adversity and their blood has thinned, and now their last prince has to leave forever - "I think the gods must be laughing at us." :(

I've never cried watching an anime but I will admit to getting choked up at the end of Angel Beats.

I cry pretty easily.
I thought it was sad too, but what the fuck is the show about? Watched the entire series and only partially understand it. Why are they fighting Angel? How the hell did those shadows come about? WTF is an NPC? All I know is that there fighting god because of they couldn't accept their lifes. But eventually they did, so they dissapaered. But who is this god? Is there an antagonist? (that guy in the episode before final?) ANSWER ME GOD DAMN YOU!!!

OT:pretty much every episode of Now and Then Here and There caused my eyes to water a little. But the ending made me bawl. THAT is the only time I truly cried heatedly from an anime, and it still does it. ( Before you read the spoiler, watch the series. MAJOR SPOILER! Honestly, I know the spoiler tag is there and all, but it will completely ruin it for you if you read.)

When La-La Ru died, it caused me to bawl like a baby. She wouldn't give water to humanity because of their fuckwads attitudes, but then Shu comes along and gives her hope that their still good in people. She then gave up her life to flood the world with ocean once again, and finnaly dissapeared without a trace while watching the sunset with SHu ( Thats how they met too.) I'll never forget that quote. " Can we watch another sunset someday?"

None of these other animes made me cry, but they did depress me...

Gurren Lagann

When Kamina died.

Gantz

When all of Kurono's friends died in the Buddha Mission. ( I like the manga better than the anime, but I personally thought that scene where everyone died was sadder in the anime)

One Piece

Several really. Nami's Backstory, Ussop's backstory, Choppers, Franky's, Robin's, Zolo's. That movie with the Baron was also preety sad too.

Clannad After Story, for obvious reasons. Episodes 18-24, I cried at least once an episode.

Also, the ending of Air.

When Lelouch died.
Maes Hughes' funeral.
When Light died.
When Wolfwood died.

That's about it. Also, I have a feeling there will be a lot of "I don't cry cuz I'm a MAYUN" comments. At least I can admit it.

Well, I guess I'm just going to parrot what other people have said, but regardless;

There's a few in Code Geass, when;
Shirley dies. Just seeing Lelouch screaming at her, using his geass over and over again, commanding her not to die, it's damn powerful (I have no idea if he was faking it or not, but the point still stands!)

Also when Euphemia died.

And when Lelouch died. Just watch the final episode and tell me you can't keep your eyes from tearing up when you hear Nunally crying for her brother while everyone else is cheering for his death.

In Fullmetal Alchemist (the first Anime);
Maes Hughes death. God, you have to be made out of stone. I prefer the original anime to the newer, more "true" one, simple because it's way more focused and the characters are developed more naturally. I teared up when Maes daughter was saying "why are they putting dirt on daddy? He has to get to work in the morning!"

And in Death Note, not necessarily a "teary" cry, more of a "holly crap this is awesome" kind of cry;
The last episode. Seriously, the huge amount of buildup to Kira's final plan and whether he would be captured or whether he would succeed is just mind-blowing. Light just gets delightfully evil and absolutely insane by the end of the series.

So, yeah, I'm a big softie and I'm pretty sure I need to watch more anime.

My understanding of Angel Beats is as follows.

A bunch of kids who had shitty childhoods go to wherever-the-hell-that-is-ville as a kind of heaven/purgatory where they have an opportunity to fulfill their desires and wishes that they could not fulfill in life because their respective childhoods were all fucked be it due to siblings being murdered or being a cripple.

"Angel" as they call her is a person who is in this world acting as somewhat of a shepherd guiding all the lost souls to the school. She wants them to go along with the system so they can achieve whatever it is they wanted to achieve and move on, aka disappear. Since she's acting like a shepherd causing people to disappear the Brigade sees her as a threat eliminating their friends. They decide they don't want to disappear, not knowing what will happen once they do, so they resist her, usually through the medium of bullets.

The NPC's are just that. They aren't real people the way the members of the brigade are. They're just kind of there to serve as scenery to make it appear like a normal school setting. They don't have souls or anything, they're just shiny decorations.

The black shadow things appear because Yuri was supposed to disappear but didn't. She realized her love for her comrades and love wasn't supposed to exist in that world because once someone felt that they were supposed to gtfo. The black shadow things were programmed by a guy who had been there in the past as a kind of fail safe because there was a glitch in the system and it had to be purged.

Also as far as who is God is concerned, they never answer that. As for what happens after they disappear I guess it was implied that they were reincarnated with that last scene where Kana and Otonashi meet eachother. And as far as real Antagonists are concerned, for a while you think its Kana, then that hypnotist douche who's name eludes me, then the black monster things. I guess if you wanna be literary about it their antagonists were their pasts or some bullshit like that.

Grave Of the Fireflies (saddest anime film of all time, hands down)

Clannad After Story (of course..though I'm not into it anymore)

I also found the ending to "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innoncence" to be so depressing with the music "Follow Me" that it brought a tear to my eye.

So, for you, it was like this:

I didn't have much of a problem though, there's some manga and light novels that explain a bit of it, also, there's probably gonna be OVA as well, so look forward to that. And there's a bonus episode on the upcoming DVD.

You really didn't need to go through all that trouble, but thanks. You made the show alot clearer.

Episode 9 of Boogiepop Phantom made me tear up a little. Poor Saki. Also, the ending of Serial Experiments Lain.

I was in the second grade when the first season of Pokemon came on. When that ship went down with the gang inside, I bawled. Of course, I had recently become acquainted with a documentary on the Titanic, so...

Fast-forwarding to modern times (I'm now 19), I recently saw Elfen Lied. While it didn't make my cry, well...just about every episode stunned me into a traumatized Blue Screen of Death mode. Some of the stuff they did to her...I still can't talk about anything in specifics. Those guys responsible for the series are SICK.
Now, the final episodes of FullMetal Alchemist, *those* managed to choke me up (no BSODs there), but that was a year or so ago.
