Most of the ones I could name would fall under Ecchi, so you wouldn't be interested.

.....But what if I AM interested ;)

Then come with me and you'll be
In a world of pure titillation
Take a look and you'll see
Into total titillation

Take my hand and enter a world of a pure titillation
A realm of pure perversion
Take one look and you'll be
In a world of true seduction

On a slightly less perverted note;

Surprised no one mentioned Sword of the Stranger yet! Its pretty much the anime samurai version of The Raid, as in its all about dem damn amazing looking action scenes.

I also watched Kizumonogatari yesterday and was taken aback by how utterly splendid the animation is in it, they just made it so lifelike and its got such a nice flow to it. Here's the opening scene for y'all to indulge in:

Didn't I literally just get done explaining this? One wonky frame taken out of context from the rest of the scene is completely meaningless until you see it in motion.

None of Mamoru Hosoda's movies do, and they're all beautifully animated. Probably because they didn't have to spend money shading the shapes and could spent more on actually making them move.
It's not even taken out of context. It's one of the first screenshots I see on Google. Is this better?
I do not care about screenshots. Show me the scene where it's from and I'll tell you.

The characters and background appear to exist separately. This look seems typical of the movie. I preferred paper animations and backgrounds over this blurry, easier to draw computer look. Character shades are pretty important for the typical anime style. Even anime TV shows have them, so it can't be that much more expensive. There's more to animated features than just movement. The movie looks cheap and flat.
You don't watch much animation, do you? The moving stuff always looks less detailed than the non moving stuff. Know why? You only have to draw the non moving stuff once, but you have to draw the moving stuff 12 to 24 times every second.

You get the same kind of thing in Akira too. Complex colors and realistic shading on the background, flat colors and cell shading on the characters and moving bits, because the latter takes far less work, and therefore far less money, to do.
The image links to that trailer you just showed me. It's from the trailer.

Why would you assume I haven't seen a lot of animations? Here, nearly every anime I've watched: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Ezekiel

And here are most of the western animations I've seen, minus most of the ones from my childhood: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur24557039/ratings

Everybody knows that about animation. Stop patronizing me. Akira and Spirited Away blend backgrounds and characters more convincingly. Both layers have shadows and tones.

Hosoda's backgrounds are a mess and his characters lack detail, from what I see. I kind of wanted to watch Summer Wars after seeing The Girl Who Leapt Through Time years ago, but that movie didn't hold up with repeated viewings, and when I watched the trailer for Summer Wars after seeing Akira again I was shocked by how poor it looked.
"Intermission, Fantasia is mostly gorgeous so far"

Did you watch the Rite of Spring segment (the one with the Dinosaurs)

It is my absolute favorite segment that its a shame it did not use the full orchestral score (and this version is the best conducted one I have ever heard)

Wings of Honneamise looks pretty gorgeous.

Robot Carnival has some fantastic animation sequences (and some not so fantastic ones).

Memories also has some great looking animation throughout, with each animation style offering something different.

The 1999 Hunter X Hunter series had great animation. They knew how to make the characters look swift and unique, not relying on these crappy tricks DBZ is known for like the new HXH.

Ugh. The animation itself is good, but why did they have to put it on top of those ugly CGI backgrounds?
Yeugh I know right, the animation is good enough to make me overlook the CGI but it is definitely an eyesore. I notice its becoming a trend in modern anime though with Berserk 2016 being the worst offender, I can't stand that series simply because the whole thing is damn near only CGI and its atrociously wonky looking.

Anyway, I just remembered another one which had really striking animation for me; Redline! Its a hand-drawn, high octane love story on wheels basically, and damn does it look splendid. I think it took like 7 years to make with so much of it being hand-made too

Not to me. A lot of the animation for movement looks sloppy, even if it is smoothly animated, it still looks stiff. I'm talking how it is portrayed just in-case you aren't sure.

After watching tons of anime over the years, Hellsing Ultimate is still the best looking one in my opinion. It was so good it was almost like it had a Hollywood-esque budget or something. Lots of deep colors, hatched shadows, and tons of detail. Its fun just to look at.

Yeah, I liked it. I liked most of them, but I think the film blew its load by the halfway point. I was rather bored with the later ones, especially the hippo one. But I think it recovered with the last one, Night on Bald Mountain, which was dreamy.

Fantasia 2000 was a letdown for me. I only really liked two of the seven new segments, Rhapsody in Blue and The Firebird. I'm also biased towards 2D animation, so Pines of Rome and Piano Concerto No. 2 were kind of meh for me. None of them were bad, though.
That is exatly my opinion and personally that is fair.

I mean Toccata and Fugue has the best use of abstract imagry to go with the music.

Rite of Spring shows us the the birth of our world.

Night on Bald Mountain showcases that evil is bombastic and good is subtle.

The Hippos and the My Little Pony-Greek Mythology Edition was always meant to pale in comparison. I do enjoy watching the Micky Mouse one The Sorcerer's Apperentice especially how gorgeous the Water Animation is.

Fantasia 2000 yes was dissipointing but I really enjoyed Rhapsody in Blue and my goodness I cried at the Firebird Suite, those 2 segments were the saving graces of the whole movie:

I agree, even the older series took a sharp turn for the worst when they animated the greed island arc in those old ovas. I think that's when they switch from hand drawn cells to digital animation. I remember people praised the new style, but I always thought it looked really mediocre.

Agreed. I found it such a shame that they also lightened the hell out of it, making everything seem flat while killing the atmosphere. Next step was to over-use of lens flares I guess :p

Nichijou. It's otherwise a regular (really funny) slice of life comedy, but there are one off scenes where the animators pull stuff like this:
