The series was good, BUT it ended on a cliffhanger. The anime continued even after the series and got weird, like all anime will. You should watch the show if you haven't and finish it. YOu will not be dissapointed.Naheal said:How about the entirety of the series?Toar said:Elfen Lied's first episode. That show... no, that episode alone will put hair on your chest and make you think about what you are doing in life.
I did. In fact, I reached for the brain bleach more often in that series then I have in any other that I've seen thus far.Toar said:The series was good, BUT it ended on a cliffhanger. Thanking you! This thread must be just about exhausted by now, but I'll add another 2c anyway. Evangelion is a mess, granted, but as stated by this fellow, it's a highly interesting mess- with actual character development and an interesting plot. I'm can't help but chuckle at Khitten's banning, and can't help fantasizing that it was for his bad taste. Lain put him to sleep, obviously no appreciation for a unique cyberpunk/psychological story and setting. Cowboy Bebop was okay?! That series is arguably the pinnacle of anime. A sci-fi western with a very noir style, that knows how to portray melancholy and tragedy with poignancy, yet is able to balance this with moments of humour and parody. There is no excuse, the series is nothing but 'suave' and 'stylish' in its narrative. Watch Cowboy Bebop and appreciate it. And again, follow that with something by Mahiro Maeda, Last Exile or Gankutsuou. Is Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball Z, all we're really after? Is dumb action all we really want as an audience. Time to evolve please people.twasdfzxcv said:While not wanting to start another discussion about Evangelion. I do want to point out that anime industry today could learn a lot from Evangelion instead of avoiding it. First of all it has an original story instead of an adaptation. It uses characters to drive the story even if all the characters are f*cked up in the head (which is actually the director's intention), instead of having characters merely do whatever the story deem fit at the moment. The characters in it all have depth instead of shallow cliche anime character type designed solely to attract specific group. And last of all it's designed by a man with a vision instead of a committee that just want to make a product sell.Khitten said:Because Naruto is good for just sitting around watching mindless action. And when its not doing fillers the action is pretty damn good.samael_morningstar said:*snip*
But honestly dude, Gankutsuou, Lain, Evangelion! Sorry, I am gonna have to take your kneecaps for daring to call those GOOD. Hell even Bebop is merely "okay" but Lain literally put me to sleep and Evangelion is a prime example of everything anime should avoid.
