Honestly after powering through all three hours of FLCL I really could use more of it.
Please note that all the while through I was thinking 'I have no idea what the fuck is going on or what these characters are talking about, but a mecha just burst out of that kids forehead, that girl uses an electric guitar as a weapon, and they are kicking some serious ass'

Such an easy answer: The 12 kingdoms. Such a dang good anime, and they just didn't finish it :(.

Also... I'm a gosh dang sucker for Suzimya Haruhi.
I agree, 12 kingdoms was AWESOME! Thing is, they didn't continue it because the original author died and he said in his will that he didn't want anyone else to profit from it.

As for the Suzumiya Haruhi series, this is based of a light novel and is being activily translated. Google "Bakatsuki" and you can read it on their site. (or if you don't feel it's right if it is not animated or something, I'm pretty sure there will be more of this in the anime industry)

Highschool Of The Dead is based of a manga, which progresses VERY slowly. Like one chapter every two months, or perhaps even more of an interval. There was an OVA that came out recently though, and I personally liked this series VERY much and am dying for a new season.

If I had to name a horribad ending, it would be Air TV
The guy sacrifices himself to save the girl halfway through the series, the main protagonists role now switches to the perspective of a crow and after a few more episodes the girl that needed a sacrifice to be saved dies nonetheless of the same illness she would have succumbed to in the first place, WTF!?

The movie was good though ^^

If you liked FLCL, watch bakemonogatari, a very similar style, it's just that this one is a bit more understandable. :D

And Elfen Lied. That could have been handled better all around. Preferably with less prepubescent nudity and more of those dark themes and characterization that it was supposed to have.
Totally forgot about Elfen Lied. Yeah, I was dissapointed massively with the anime. They crammed way to much into to few episodes and the things that were dark came across as dark for the sake of being dark.

But it started off so good! Man, it was good at the beginning. Then they introduced Mayu. And Nana. Both of which were necessary characters, but felt unnecessarily forced down my throat. And that director/chief/whatever his name was dude, which was never properly dealt with. I guess he was yet another graduate of the Umbrella school of business.
Evidentlly the manga handles the characters and story much better. One scene I remember from the end of the anime is the evil director guy laughing. He knows he got away with everything and he's letting the viewers know it. I've heard he gets what he deserves at the end of the manga.

Come to think of it are there any anime that overtake the manga and wrap things up well? FMA is one of the better ones, and even then I was dissapointed with it.

Black Lagoon. Unlike many of the one's named, the manga rolled on past the point it stopped. And continued to be mind blowingly awesome.

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Chinese Electric Batman: The Animated Adventures yet.
It just needs ONE MORE season for it to actually have a conclusion...one more, is that too much to ask? All the plot threads are there, all the setup has been done, hell - there's even room to dick around with cool stuff and multiple sub-plots - just give us that last goddamn season.

Draker than black. the second season ended with a lot of unanswered question and a how bunsh added on, and the OVA only showed what happened between seasons. Loy even if they did I don't think they would answer them. Its the kind of show that like to keep you dark (no point intended) and left things for the veiw to find out. As much as that frustration its what i like about it the same time.

Pumpkin Scissors Not a bad. Mostly suffered from to much filler. Sad realy it had no a bad story set a post war 20th center western Europen diverent reality. it ended before we found out much about the villians or what there plain even was and why?

Have you heard the term "Monkey paw wish"?
Claymore didn't finish the story but it didn't drag on forever either.
I could name a million animes that would be better if they were a third of their length.

But I'd love to see a third season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. They replayed the same episode 8 times in a row and that didn't drag on forever either.

I wish Funimation was still dubbing Sgt Frog. it was a really funny show with some great characters and some legitimately heartwarming moments. I WOULD just watch the undubbed episodes with subtitles... but the woman who does Keroro's voice in the original version... guh... it's the love child of Dexter (of Dexter's Lab) and Yoda with lung cancer imitating a nails on a chalkboard/blender filled with rusty screws orchestra. It's utterly TERRIBLE. that and the dub took the liberty of removing all of the Japanese pop culture/political jokes that would go over the heads of us here in the West.
CMON FUNIMATION, KEEP DUBBING SGT FROG, THE FANS WILL SUPPORT IT!!!!!!

Soooooooooo... am I the only one who's going to mention Umineko no Naku Koro ni? And I know the 'purists' are going to jump out and start having a go, saying how the games are better and that so much important stuff was omitted from the anime and it doesn't make sense. But there was plenty omitted from the Higurashi series too, so they added an anime-only arc to cover all that, and it worked great. No reason they can't do something similar for Umineko. I'm just pissed off because they made one series, then decided to not even bother with the second one, which means those who saw the anime but don't want to read the visual/sound novels are stuck with no idea what's going on. There are so many plot points that are unaddressed and need closure, hell, there's even a scene in the finale where the canon lesbian couple are talking about the unresolved mysteries and basically setting up a second series without even trying to be subtle about it. Umineko needs a second series, and I desperately hope that the creators hurry up and do one ASAP...

The end of Code Geass pissed me off.
Not for any of the usual reasons but it was TOO awesome.

That show built up and built up into a perfect crescendo then the last scene was more awesome than I could have imagined. And instead of being slack jawed and amazed I was like "Those fuckers are just showing off now."

Yes I know I'm impossible to please so shut up.

Death Note is another one I'd love to see more of mostly because there were a lot of rules for how to use a Death Note that never got used in the story.

The problem with Claymore is that the ending was so clearly rushed, and that they were just tying up as many loose ends as possible in the quickest way possible. You don't realize just how many plot threads they left unanswered unless you read the manga. Which actually gets better as the series goes on.

I think the perfect length for most anime is between 15-25 episodes. Claymore is one of those odd series that i'd love to see go 50-60 episodes and wrap up everything.
