Anit malware weirdness

ok, on xp at the moment (yes, I know I need to upgrade, just need to find the money for 7), and ran malware bites for a malware check, and it picked up two non malware items, and I, as usual, just told it to quarantine them (playing safe), and it asked for a restart to complete removal of them... and my computer Bsod'd on startup, and even starting in safe mode caused a BSOD... but the computer loaded up and ran fine when I selected 'run with last safe settings'.

any idea what happened, and has something greebly slipped onto my computer?

well, to be fair the system is running fine at the moment (whatever the 'last settings that wiorked' are, the system is stable and fine), but the reaction I got just spooked me. I must admit I may be giving into paranoia here, but I do remember hearing of malware set up to counter anti-virus and malwarf rom dealing with them, so just worried there may be something on my system
