"Celebrating my birthday is like throwing a parade every time I piss."

That's the mentality I have towards post counts and the celebration thereof. I honestly wish the Escapist would get rid of the post counter. It means nothing relevant.

This thread has conveniently led to my first post, and thus its announcement, perfect.

I don't think it makes any sense, but then again, I hate posting for the sake of posting.

I usually EDIT my extremely even posts and add a little humorous note.

Well, I plan on celebrating my 10k post as that feels like a generally decent achievement to me. No need to make a big deal out of hitting, a post count more than once though.
*over 9000 joke* n.n;

Problem with me potentially celebrating post counts is that I post so slowly by the time I hit any milestone *everyone* else on the Escapist will of already done so.
Ha, that's a good point. I'm in the same boat my friend.

I think once I hit 1000, 5000, and (if I ever) 10,000 I'll smile to myself. But I highly doubt I'll make a thread to draw attention to it.

I plan to announce all of my +1000 posts with an review. It's just the way i like to do it. Other than that i'm not all too hyped about it. Especially not the "Yay i has 100 poasts" threads. Plain useless in my eyes.

When I hit 10k I'll either post a picture on Behind the Avatar or do a review.

i think personally if you hit that amount of posts you have the right to do whatever really as it shows your dedication to the site and all the different threads.

But it doesn't even prove anything. All your bazillion posts could have been crap. You shouldn't really pay notice to the post count when judging someone's ability as a writer, or even devotion to the 'pist.

5K, 10K are worth celebrating. Intervals of 10K after that. Anything else is somewhat selfcentered and makes people think you have a massive ego.

I plan on announcing every post with its own thread. However, this will take a lot of thread making, and even more posting. Impossible, you say? Ha! We shall see...
Well, the thread counts as a post, so it will become this huge cycle that you can never escape from.

NEVER!!!!

In all seriousness, I was planning on reviewing the site for my 1k, and planning on making an origin story for my group when we hit ten members, but I keep forgetting. Hell, we might only have nine, I don't rememeber.

Now all I do is put an "X posts, yay!" every hundred posts.

Post count means nothing since the games and RP section came up. So now it's better to celebrate anniversaries. I'll have been here for 2 years in a week.

So, I was about to hit 1k posts today and I was thinking to myself "What should I do for it?" and I thought "Let's see how big of a stupid irony I can possibly put in a single post!"

In the end, I came to one conclusion: why not announce my 1000th post by complaining about people who announce post counts?

Note: if you take the thread seriously, I would seriously be concerned.

So, why exactly do people decide that we need to know when they hit x post count? What is your opinion on the matter?
its not really irony because you intended it to be ironic. Accidental irony is always better. Why does no one know what irony means. It saddens me on the internet. Irony is the go to word for pretty much ay funny situation.

I have no problem with people announcing post counts. It's something that people can celebrate, and everyone here can relate to having one.

I've yet to do one of those types of threads though. Maybe at 5 000 or 10 000...

I did an edit on my 100th, will do that on my 500th and 1000th and so on. I don't see a need to make a whole thread on a post count unless it's a good one.

I think it's strange when people say "I just hit 1,000 posts!" and have no content in their thread. What is there to talk about? How great you are? Tons of people have 1,000 posts and it's nothing to be that proud of.

Myself? Every thousandth post I do a game review. I just wanted to do a review for Bad Company and it just happened to be on my 4,000th post, so for my 5,000th I did Bad Company 2. I'm not sure what to do for my 6,000th yet, but I know for my 10,000th I'm going to do Professor Layton and the Curious Village. No one really reads them and they take hours to complete but I have a good time with them.
