Annoying advertisements...your opinion?

I'm getting fed up with these irritating pop-up screens, browser-overtaking ads and, to top it all, those advertisements who take over control of the online videoplayer before being able to watch a vid.
It's possibly the cheapest way to advertise, but the way it is used will certainly not persuade me to buy their stuff or look up their site.

And what is your opinion about this?

I just tend to ignore them. The worse ad ever in the history of forever is that fucking ad int he bottom left hand side of Windows live messenger. Im so carful now when i go so click Start. I dont want to scroll over the ad and cause half my screent o disappear under crap i ont care about.

Well welcome to the party, many before you have posted about that. And well too bad, The Escapist needs to host some ads to get income, so you just have to deal with them. Do what I do and mute them at the corner.

I agree, there seems to be a new breed of these on Gametrailers whereby you dont even have the option to press the 'X' to get rid of it, the only way you can destroy the horrible thing is to click it and then go back to the original page.

The other type I cant stand are the giant screen filling ones where it takes you 25 minutes to find the 'X' to get rid of it.

I once tried to watch a video on Youtube while an ad was constantly making annoying noises. Then I found Ad Block Plus and been happy ever since.

thats so like an advert the irony just burst my appendix

i get annoyed trying to watch new family guy on megavideo sites and then I HAVE to click something to get the video but it pops up an advert

I've heard... If you try really hard, you can turn actually turn your head away from the computer screen at this time.

However I've never been able to accomplish this feat.

Mostly I disregard them. But a really irritating advert is like an anti-ad to me because I will swear right then and there never to touch their poxy product. This will include pop-ups (although they rarely get through), google ads on Youtube and any sort of spam.
