Oh I had to get all over this.

I've just been down to my local pharmacy to go and collect my prescription for a medicine that has a bit of a stigma associated with it.

I had to sit there, getting filthy looks, arguing with the pharmacist about whether or not I should take an alternative medicine for convenience and generally putting up with poor service, all from people who couldn't realise that the prescription is actually for a serious, long-term medical problem.

Not that I should have to argue my medical history with some pill-dispensing retard when the prescription has come directly from my GP.

That people think the western world is getting more dumb just because they watched that film Idiocracy.

Also that the whole of humanity is doomed and inherently evil and that everyone you meet is an arsehole.

That because I am an 18 year old male living in the UK, I am certain to crash my car and cause massive amounts of damage, and therefore must pay extortionate amounts of money (£1000+) to ensure my car.

Bollocks.
I'm going to go with this, when I got my first quote of £5000 I accidently told the lady on the phone to fuck off.

Im diabetic so I can't eat sugar AT ALL...thats an irritating presumption which I get all the fucking time.

Once at my friends house a few years ago, her mum had baked a cake and was giving people some to try and went to me "Oh...I know you can't eat this, so I got you this" and gives me an apple.

Oh and I'm also colour blind so I see in black and white apparently... /sigh
What the hell is wrong with the people you know?
Well my friend's mum is a bit on the weird side anyway, she once got one of her family friend's kids a watermelon for her birthday.

It tends to not be my friends or people I know but people I meet and get talking to who have really odd misconceptions about both diabeties and colour blindness.

But yeah I have met a good few people who genuinely thought that colour blind people see in black and white which amazed me as it's rediculous.
In fairness, my husband is totally colour blind, and does only see in black and white. This is quite rare though, and in his case, was the result of a severe head injury.

He usually has the opposite of the problem you have, where he says "I'm colour blind" and people ask him "oh, which colour can't you see?"

I saw some Diablo in Scotland, it was good!
I hate it when people assume things about me, like I love shoe shopping and wearing pretty dresses and fancy all the hot Hollywood stars.
No no no no no NO. People assuming things about me is one of the few things that will have me fly into a rage.

Just because I am well spoken, thick people who watch too much tv think that I am a fag.

Suprisingly a common problem, I remember a long time ago when I first moved to the city I live in now - I'd a pretty good education and I found that I had to dumb myself considerably to allow myself to be understood by the idiots I generally met.

The trick is, I think, to avoid those kinds of people and only surround yourself with people who are either actively seeking to better themselves or who want to.

The worst has to be the presumption that I lack morals, basically saying because of some beliefs I have to be a sociopath.

The assumption that since I'm doing Creative Writing at university, I must be slacking off. I'd like to see some of the people who criticise me churning out 3000 plus words weekly, along with the essays and work for the English side of the course. And besides, writing isn't as easy as everyone seems to think it is. (This is another presumption I don't like. Just because I have written full length novels, does not mean writing must be easy.)

Okay, I just have to ask.

What and what? (no stigma here, I have experienced similar problems.)

Well, I wasn't going to say for fear of falling under the "too much information" heading but if you're really curious, the medication in question is the Contraceptive Pill and the health problem is severe Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, with complications from a suspected miscarriage.

Frequently, the attitude is that because its a contraceptive, that must be the only reason I take it- like I'm some idiotic slut who can't have sex without getting pregnant.
The pharmacist kept insisting I would be better on long-term contraceptive injections, as I'm clearly so stupid that I can't remember something as simple as taking a pill every day, but as I've discussed with my doctor, I can't risk taking the injections due to the considerable side effects involved. STILL this woman argued with me, even when I tried to make this clear.

Its very annoying when even a pharmacist can be so biased, and apparently so unaware of the contents of what they're dispensing that they can't see it might have another use, such as in my case, where it's used as hormone therapy.

/rant.

You wanted to know....

Just because im from yorkshire doesn't mean im a farmer.
Same here, where in Yorkshire are you?

OT: I hate the presumption that all gamers are apparently socially mal-adjusted and will eventually kill somebody because of the gaming.
Also same here. I'm from Hull, so people assume were not so much farmers, but pregnant, teenage dole-scrounging scum.

I hate the assumption that all politicians are self-serving idiots. It just doesn't seem to cross some folk's minds that sometimes, people like to go into politics because they actually want to help others.

That just because i´m a 15 year old gamer, that doesn't mean that I will go on a homicidal killing spree.
I might, but that doesn't mean that I will.

People often think about me:

I am from New Jersey, therefore I am connected to the mob.

I am 23 so I get drunk and have sex with random women every weekend.

I have lost a tremendous amount of weight, therefore I am on a pill or had some sort of surgery.

I am a young male, therefore am interested in baseball, football, basketball and any number of other sports.

I am a History Major, therefore I want to be a teacher

I somehow eventually want to get married and have children, despite my clear hatred of the idea.
