They could be doing something admirable which is most of what they do. They could be taking down the websites of Arab dicatators to aid the protestors and rebels of the Arab Spring revolts. Instead, they are defending a jerk off like GeoHot. I mean...look at the guy!

Is this guy worth defending?!

Damage? what damage?

What did anon do? Did something happen to PSN?
PSN was taken down for a few hours a day or so ago and apparently the us.playstation website was taken down also.
Oh man, I got some catching up to do. :/

On the one hand I feel like ranting for 15 pages about how Anonymous can suck it with their self righteous babble about inconsequential crap like this while at the same time harrassing little girls (Remember the 11 year old they brought to tears last year? You know, the one that refused to take her top off, who they then harrased until that admittedly funny video of her dad yelling got to youtube?) and sharing child pornography.

On the other hand, I fear one of the lunatics might see it and, even though I'm careful about this stuff, find my personal information and proceed to fuck me over in many many ways.

So yea. My vote is on online terrorists. Self important perverted wankers, fighting for causes nobody asked them to champion, and acting as though we should be grateful they're making the entire internet look like a bunch of overreacting overzealous anarchistic twats.
This. Again and again and again. Spot on. My opinion, only more concise and less vitriolic. Bravo, sir.

*sigh* Anon you are so in the wrong for this. You're attacking the very people you want to "Help." You're not help that hacker, by the way I think he's getting what's coming to him and Sony is in the right on this. Buying a console is buying a license to use Sony's software and hardware. It doesn't give you the right to mess with the tech Sony owns.

Get a 360. MS supports and has an entire section for indie games.
For many people I can see where that might be a valid solution but I've recently sold my 360 due to non-use. Even on my playstation I only use the online functionality for netflix really as I prefer to do all my multiplayer gaming on my PC. I just wasn't ok with paying twice for netflix as I didn't use Live to play games.

Interesting you should point out the indie games bit though, as it was really the only thing on live I liked. I don't believe I mentioned indie games in this thread but I'm certainly apt to mention them at the drop of a hat around here. I bet I'm repeating myself from thread to thread and you've noticed :D

Man, I liked it when Anonymous was a scary, dark group that silently took things down every once in a while. Now their operations with Wikileaks, WBC and PS3 just makes them annoying.

Still, this will be fun to watch.

Called it. I knew they were just going to make shit worse. The moment I heard they were on Sony, not everything needs a cause, and Sony was practically desperate for evidence to prove Gehot in the wrong. This is Christmas, Birthday, and Thanksgiving all rolled up in one for Sony lawyers.
That's a point. Makes you wish Sony had planned it.

I have no clue what is going on with this debate anymore, so I'm just going to say "blueberry."
The cheese is always twice the fencepost. Ro'i shaad, na'al t'ianam halda'ar.

And now for something completely relevant.
Personally, I think the group is getting too cocky. They're going to get themselves - and probably a lot of unrelated innocent people - in shit loads of trouble.

I don't really care who's "right" and "wrong" in this. I love to see big corporations humbled. I'm a hypocrite; I know. I've been a gamer all my life, and the industry has practically raised me. I don't care. Suits that think they rule the world need to be shown that they don't.

On another note, can we have a group that is solely dedicated to stopping everything Anon does? That would be cool.
I propose the Russian hackers who've been attacking LJ for the last few days. At the very basics, the two groups have opposing beliefs. One is trying to silence free thinkers while the other (supposedly) stands for the right to freely speak your mind.

Go ahead and guess which is which.

Not on that level. Just people who will spam Anon members IPs until they lose connection/post their private information.
We don't want a moral war, just a "Quick screwing over the innocent" war. Let's not forget, while Sony isn't causing any collateral damage, Anon seems to take pride in the fact that they cause so much.
I think it's less "hah, we f'ed you over" and more "who's whining about what now?" They honestly don't seem to care about our reactions from the OP's quote and are much more focused on informing Sony that their attempts to punish "freedom" is unacceptable.

As for a war on that level, I wouldn't get too concerned. First off, all the Russian hackers have done is shut down the blogging site and only for a few days at that. Secondly, unless a majority of Anonymous are from the motherland and delight in explaining why the government in power there sucks, that miniature war won't be happening anytime soon much to my disappointment.

It's funny cause Anon is just a bunch of 14 year old twats that have nothing better to do, yet act like total badasses when they can all come together to actually do shit.
If Anon continues to be assbags, and actually do something to mess up PSN, paying $60 a year for online might not look so bad...

I generally tend to like and support anon, but this is a really stupid move on their part. Probably upwards of 90% of their support comes from people who play video games, people who definitely are going to be pissed off about PSN being down. What they are doing is alienating their strongest base and it's political suicide for anon. This whole situation is kind of like being a Republican presidential candidate who decides to convert to Islam, marry another dude, and start performing abortions.

As much as I dislike what Sony is doing, the moment Anon shows up to an issue, I want to join the other side. The same is my typical reaction to Peta members, militant environmentalist, an labor union protestors. They are cruel and petty children who, were there any justice in the world, would be banned from owning anything more advanced than a toaster. They harass people who disagree with them, and punish those who have done nothing wrong. They speak like some sort of internet collective, as if they have the power to dictate justice.

EDIT: To be clear, I support anyone's right to protest. But that dosn't mean you have the right to prevent me from discoursing my life as I see fit, simply because you disagree with the service or product I recieve.
