Anonymous still says it wasn't them.

If they say they didn't do it then that is where they 'officially' stand on the issue, the person/people who did are therefore separate from anon on this matter even if they would have been part of the collective when warring against say scientology.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_(group)

If I remember correctly, when people first started to point fingers at Anon, they came out and said that They didnt do it. I beleive that they went further to say that it may have been some of their members, but if it was it was not an action sanctioned by the group as a whole, and that those members would have been acting on their own accord.

Of course, by that logic, if Anonymous is made up of 100 people then 99 of them could have been taking down the PSN while the 100th was blogging that they didnt do it as anonymous...

?leadership?
Its a piece of paper with the goals and rules printed on. Its kinda like...hmm..samurai code I guess?

Every Operation is more of an political group where people belive in the same ideals and if they dont then clearly they're not part of that political group. If single guy yells "FUCK YEAH! LETS BE COMMUNIST!" that doesnt mean everyone have to agree with him.

I don't think it's them. It just doesn't sound like the sorta thing that they'd do. Who did it may end up being a member of anonymous but if that is the case I think they did it on their own.

It says 'leadership'.

Where 'leadership' is the shared spirit of everyone taking part in what anonymous does.

You know what would be super cool? If Anon actually went out and found the hacker themselves. I'm positive it'd be well within their power, and that's the best sort of PR they could get right now.

Course, I see no reason as to why they'd want to, unless the majority of them were personally affected by the PSN hack themselves. I highly doubt they give a rat's arse what everybody else thinks of them anyway, as to whether or not they hacked PSN themselves.

Still, just a funny thought. Sony all but pointing the finger at Anon, then all of a sudden Anon are like "we've got your man right here", while Sony mumbles a half-hearted thankyou under its breath.

Anon has no motives. It's when a bunch of shit heads all collide at once and somehow get something done. At least that was anon 3-4 years ago. Kinetic molecular theory.

I believe them. Stealing moneys is not their business.

There are two possibilities here.

First is you have either a rogue anon, or just a hacker(s) in general not affiliated with anon.

Second is that this is an intentional stunt that Sony underestimated just how out of control it would get and is now in a position that they have to have ANYONE be the scapegoat.

Honestly I find the latter infinitely more likely. Anon had no reason to do this. But with Sonys Anti piracy crusade... they had all the reason in the world to think pulling a stunt like this would yeild benefits. They, again, just miscalculated what peoples response would be,.

EDIT: Hey alright 2k.. Yaa... why do I feel old now?

By their very nature you can't prove their innocence or condone their guilt. The groups is about freedom of speech but been so fractured there is every chance a splinter group of them did do it.

I think the person that planted the 'Anonymous' file is just trying to frame Anon and get the suspicion away from them.

That would be highly entertaining. They've partaken in cyber-vigilantism before, haven't they? When they got that kid arrested for torturing a cat? Admittedly a whole different kettle of fish, but I'm sure they could pull it off. Then again, messing with organized crime is somewhat more dangerous than messing with the US Government, The Church of Scientology or a multinational corporation.

Well Anon is all about the lulz, while credit card theft is more like a con job for a nice paycheck.
Saying it was or wasn't them in the end doesn't matter, maybe some of them were involved and they don't know themselves, obviously someone had a plan to steal some shit.

I don't see Anon as the kind of organization that helps out a someone like Sony, who has billions of dollars and lawyers and whatevers. A company who maybe decided that keeping more money in their pockets instead of protecting the customers who supported that same company?

I think they put into "" for a reason.

But I don't really think Anon did it. If they took PSN down and just left it at that, maybe, but I wouldn't think twice about them stealing credit card info.

Anonymous spoke up again [http://venturebeat.com/2011/05/05/anonymous-denies-psn-outage/], saying that weren't involved in the PSN credit card scandal in a press release.

Anonymous says in regards to the PSN hack, ?If a legitimate and honest investigation into credit card theft is conducted, Anonymous will not be found liable?. They also say "While we are a distributed and decentralized group, our ?leadership? does not condone credit card theft."

I find it hard to imagine that whoever is sending this press release can honestly and truthfully speak for every single member on Anonymous when they say that they didn't steal the credit cards. Simply not condoning credit card theft by whatever this supposed "leadership' is supposed to consist if, isn't going to stop every single member from going out and doing whatever the hell they want.

Hey, in all fairness, they might very well be innocent; I'm certainly noone to judge. I just seems naive to me that their "leader/s" think they can account for every single one of their members. Unless I've been completely missing the point of Anonymous this whole time.

Do you still think Anon is innocent?
Even if one of the members did it, that doesn't mean that the group was responsible. wow, I just stood up for anonymous. Maybe that's why its so cold in here: hell just froze over.
