ANOTHER annoying youtube update!?

So, I was just about to log into Youtube to check my subscriptions, something I do very regularly when bored, when I noticed I was singed out. I never sign out of youtube as I'm the only person to this computer, so this confused me, but hey, whatever. So I got to log back in, when youtube informs me that they "are no longer accepting youtube account passwords" and that I must now log in using my Gmail account.

The fuck is this? So for me to continue to use the service I've been using for years, I need to make an email account with google. That's a bit of a dick move, but okay, I will grudgingly accept this.

So I make the email, and it all goes well, except that the email I wanted was already taken, but oh well, not like I'll ever use the damn thing. So it's made, and I now log into youtube with my newly made email address. It then asks me for my youtube account info, which I give. I then get this response-

"! Please check your user name."

Huh? I've been using this name for 2 years, I think I know what it is. So I try to sign in again. Same message.

Is google insisting I make a new youtube account with the same name as my Gmail? If so, that is a VERY big dick move on Google's part. I had over 30 subscriptions on that account, and atleast 100 favorites, that are apparently all gone because I couldn't make a Gmail account with the same name as my youtube account.

So, anyone else having issues with this? Describe them, rant, whatever you want. Oh, and if there is some way for me to get access back to my old youtube account, please let me know.

Haven't had problems, though I already had a gmail and I don't do much on YouTube.

I've noticed it signed me out on it's own a few times today. Other than that, I just skip the whole 'link all this stuff' thing, since I have exactly none of that.

Hey, this has very little to do with your problem, but lately I've been noticing a little button that looks like a soccer ball, on Youtube, and when I click on it, what sounds like a bee hive starts buzzing out of my speakers. It does not appear to have any other effect. What the fuck is it?

Um, I think that you're supposed to try logging in with the e-mail account you made as the username. I think that's how it works anyway. It'll appear as if your name is your old username, but you log in with your gmail name.
