I usually don't buy from Gamestop except when reserving games or I have a bunch of older games that I want to get rid of and won't get shit for on Ebay.

I have had Operation Flashpoint reserved there since June, and got it just about paid off using sold games. However, I had to go to school this morning and would not have gotten back until about 10:00 tonight, well after Gamestop closed. So my buddy (who got the game this morning from another store) picked me up from school and took me to Gamestop because he wants to play co-op with me and was willing to do me a favor.

We get to Gamestop and they say that corporate shorted them a copy...three people, including myself, had reserved the game, but corporate only sent them two, and the other two guys had already picked it up. The other Gamestop nearby was also out, as were the three others within a 20 mile radius.

Goddammnit.

The guy in Gamestop was pretty cool though, as he was calling everywhere for me. After nothing panned out, he had me write out a "customer issue" form and said that once he tracked down a copy or they got one in, he would call me and hold it for me. And give me 20% off.

So, sort of cool, but mostly goddamnit.

Wow. I've heard so many bad things about Gamestop.
That is how Gaming shops should be. they actually should give a damn and try to help.
Incidentally, what are we meant to be discussing?

It's mostly just a rant...I was really looking forward to playing the game, and thought reserving it guaranteed me a copy. Apparently not.

meh, I've got it pre-ordered. I'm picking it up tomorrow. GAME holds pre-orders for 48 hours, so they can guarantee a copy if you get there in that time...
however, they are meant to send a text message the day before, and I've never got any messages.

Seeming as you had had it pre-ordered for so long I can imagine it'd be hella annoying, but I, not usually being too zomg about release dates, would prefer for this to happen. 20% off is a sweet deal, and it'll probably only take a week give or take a few days for them to order it in

Yeah, Gamestop, I'm pretty sure if you pushed harder, you might have gotten more from them.

I've preordered a popular title from them before, they hold it for 48 hours. I have it fully paid off, go as soon as I get out of work, they are completely sold out. Now I for one did not like this, so I talked to the manager about it, having it pre-ordered, paid off, etc etc. He looked for other stores that didn't have it either. He gave me a full refund on top of keeping my order in the system, a free game since they fubared and sold too many copies when the idiots couldn't even check the reserve numbers against numbers of copies sent.

I hate gamestop sometimes.

All I know, is the two local gamestops near me, are apparently different than every other one...cept for some odd pricings. (Got GTAIV cheaper new than used by 5$ via careful shelf browsing)

Gamestop makes me appreciated Gamestation and Game just a little bit more. Even though when we traded in my boyfriends collecters edition of a game i can't remember at the moment they only gave us 50p because they didn't have the name of the game on its list or something. Gah that was annoying but yeah they are fairly well priced.

I honestly would have slapped the manager across the face.
And where would that have gotten you? I thought I had some violent tendencies.

It wouldve have made sure I would never enter that store again? Never have to bother with their shit again?
Seems like a plus to me, plus I slapped the fucking manager!
Sure I guess that makes sense - if you like slapping people for things out of their control, while they are in the middle of trying to make it right for you. I could get someone to hold a door for you, if the need to slap people who are helping you is a constant distraction.

Wait... I was only trying to help, don't slap me!

The Gamestops you people live near suck because the Gamestop where I live gets 2 copies of a game for every preorder they get, plus 10 extra copies so they always have enough for the preorders and for other people who didn't preorder it.

I'm pretty sure they can be smacked by corporate for that...consistently over-ordering games, even when demand is low?

Honestly, I'm not incredibly surprised that Flashpoint demand was so low...everyone is super-hyped about ODST and Modern Warfare 2. However, my buddy who already has the game says that it's really easy to do good in Flashpoint multiplayer, because all the CoD-tards are attempting to run-and-gun, when it's a much more tactical game.
