Suddenly you are captured by a giant group of raiders! They bring you to there mighty leader, who says that if you don't give him something of value, something like food, a weapon, armor, or some other thing, he will kill you. The thing you are holding right now is all you have on you. How are you going to convince the leader to take your thing, and what chance do you have of it working?[/spoiler]

So we basically have to use whatever we have on or nearby our person right now, otherwise we could all just cheat and pick something incredibly useful.

So, my item would have to be a mouse (as in the peripheral, not the animal), so I'd hand it to him and state that it was a device required to access a particular machine that will provide him vast amounts of knowledge (a computer, in laymans terms).

Hopefully, in this post-apocalyptic world, computers are very rare and these raiders will have likely not seen one before and therefore believe my ridiculous story. That way, I will lead them on a search (read: wild goose chase) for a working computer, which would hopefully give me time to formulate some sort of escape plan.

i have a charming musical instrument i got at the eden project, its half a hollow sphere with metal poles sticking forward, that you flick, making it chime in different notes, its rather lovely. hopefully i can soothe their angry hearts with it, but to be honest i dont like my odds
