Bye bye tranny, hello new bill.

Thats pretty typical of those crappy front drive cars GM pumped out.
I should mention its a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM

How much do you think it would cost to fix? and could it be the muffler??
That sounds all too familiar to my old Grand Am. I'm assuming it's automatic? I expect that, within the next few weeks, maybe months, you'll not get an immediate response off the accelerator, and that sucker's gonna start slamming into gear, instead of accelerating smoothly.

Doesn't sound like the muffler to me, especially if you're getting two different sounds depending on the gear. And it the description of the reverse gear doesn't match up with the "winching" sound some standard trannies make all the time in reverse. It sounds much like how my tranny started its downward slide into obliteration.

Well I'm gonna check today, plus there's no reason why the transmission should be going
