And yes it does look like a point-for-point remake of the movie with no changes.

Though Simba as a cub looks adorable because baby lions are cute regardless.

I'm really not buying the portrayal of Scar here.

That said, this looks okay. Pointless, like most of the Disney live-action remakes, but okay.

They probably would've had a better result with a James Earl Jones imitator.

OT: I'm hardly a fan of the original animated movie, but good God does this remake look fucking boring. There's not even one frame that's visually exciting by accident. The voice acting better be the most exceptional that has ever and will ever exist, because these characters look as bland and characterless as.. actual lions and hyenas.

soon everyone else's childhoods will be consumed and recycled to be represented for newer generations, as all mature stuck watching helplessly, slowly realising that maybe nothing ever really mattered and even those memories will inevitably fade before the final gasp and panicked drop into the eternally ravenous void, the cycle does not care. it must feed on loss to feed the future

film looks alright to me though

Oh yay, my daily reminder that Hollywood is stagnating and can't do anything other than look at stuff that worked before and remake them no matter how unnecessary.
I mean, I gave the Jungle Book and BatB a chance, but I just have no enthusiasm for these remakes.

It is impressive how realistic an animated movie can look these days but it still looks like nothing I'd actually want to see. I mean, the whole premise seems to be "what if these charming, expressively animated cartoon animals looked like real animals" and... they sure do look like real animals, and I'm sure that took a lot of effort, but it doesn't exactly stand the "so what?" test.

Even the Hakuna Matata sequence looks boring.

Hollywood? Or we seem to be in generation of movie makers that does not have an original bone in their ideas?

Where's the next Speilberg, Cameron, De Palma, Ridley Scott, Kubrick, etc.?

Eh, i don' t know about Refn, chief. Villeneuve is probably the most correct answer here, though.

Also: Jorgos Lantimos and Jordan Peele... And now fingers crossed i didn't jinx it.

I'm judging him soley on Drive. Anyone who directs something like that gets a free pass for life in my book.

Man, Scar looks and sounds boring. If they're doing this remake frame by frame, then what makes it different when compared to the original one? The graphics?

Yeah Disney, you're not getting a cent of my money. I know my family is going to see it though. More so my mom and brother.
