No, this isn't a Kingdom Hearts thread, before anyone complains. I decided to make this after being inspired by the 'Gary Oak is the good guy' thread, and it's alternate take on the Pokemon series.

Quite simply, there are two theories of Pokemon doing the rounds on the internet. One is that Gary Oak is the good guy and you as the player are the douche, and the other is that the entire anime is a coma-induced dream created by Ash Ketchum (including repressed sexuality and shattered childhood dreams).

So, I figured, what other bullshit theories can people come up with? Here, pick anything you want, book, game, film, anime, even a music album, anything that tells a story. Then come up with your own interpretation. Extra points if your theories are the sort of thing people would think true if they were high on a combination of weed, alcohol and awesome sex :D.

And no, I can't think of anything right now, I'm too busy revising. Apparently.

Welp, there's one floating around that Squall in Final Fantasy 8 actually died and everything after he gets impaled at the end of disc 1 is just his brain creating a big, elaborate, non-sensical coma dream as his last speck of life fades away, the dream becoming more nonsensical and abstract as his brain deteriorates.

In Half Life 2 Breen was brutally oppressing humanity because if he didn't cooperate with the Combine they wold have just extincted humanity to make things easier. In this sense Breen was actually a good guy. Evidence would be that the Combine were taking all of the Earth's resources and humanity being there wouldn't have given them any kind of advantage. The only reason for not taking out humanity to stop rebellions and resistance would have been that they surrendered.

That wasn't really so far fetched, considering.
Still, I'd feel a lot more inclined to sympathize with him if he would just shut up for once.

Anyway, Combine oppression isn't all that bad, really. Combined gives me cookies. :3

You know... that actually makes a hell of a lot of sense.

That being the point of this thread. ;)

I know another guy who has a really elaborate argument that Gordon Freeman is a sociopath who literally cannot conceive of the needs of others. He takes medical kits next to injured NPCs who clearly need it more than he does, he never talks to people, he chucks random objects at people for his own amusement, and he frequently goes on murderous rampages with no regard to the lives of the soldiers he kills. Frankly I buy the "Gary Oak is the good guy" and "Squall is dead" arguments sooner than I buy this one, but it was a funny read.

I think it would be interesting to see the games like Silent Hill turned around. I mean, the idea (originally was) that the environment and creatures were all derived from the characters mines and they were obviously somewhat mentally unstable. So, what if characters like pyramid head are actually other people who are in the area but are delusion created by the character's mind? Like, it was actually a person that the character's mind hates so much that they block out and replace them with this image? Say...like, Pyramid Head is James's father? The "rape" scene could be like a weird flashback to childhood (keeping in mind) that James is psycho. I dunno, needs development. Any thoughts? Oh, I realize the similarity to a certain book/movie which I won't mention for antispoiler reasons.
