Another Warcraft RTS, why not?

I know there is no OFFICIAL statement saying there will be no more Warcraft games like the ones many people enjoyed before World of Warcraft. I have no problem with World of Warcraft, but I have lost interest in it. WoW just isn't interesting for me anymore, but why not remake the old Warcraft games? You know Warcraft Orcs vs Humans, but updated? Edit them games a bit to give us the lore of the game? I have never played Warcraft and Warcraft 2 but I have watched let's plays of them. They seemed interesting, and to be able to play them with an update would be nice.
Another thing is why not give us a Warcraft 4? I'm NOT saying stop making WoW expansions, it would be absurd to think Blizzard would give up on such a money maker. Why not make Warcraft 4 an alternative time line, or just the story of World of Warcraft given some flesh? I don't see the harm in giving people who no longer or just plain never liked WoW what they want. I still love Blizzard's most current RTS Starcraft 2, but I would still like to get back to the Warcraft I loved SO much more than the World of Warcraft.
I would like to hear what other people have to say about this? It is obvious there is a way to make another Warcraft RTS without getting rid of World of Warcraft... So why not?

This made me think of something: I wonder how many people would complain that something new with Warcraft on it is not part of WoW.

Never actually played the Warcraft games. Cut my RTS teeth on Starcraft and just assumed it was more or less the same in a fantasy setting. Although it has a massive lore behind it.

The only way I can see it happening is if the new RTS happened so far in the future, WOW doesn't even matter, or is set before WC1... both of which would be fairly tough and possibly uninteresting.

Here's an interesting thing to think of. You know those massive battles and the like that people get into during WoW? What if there were to be an optional "extra" player, who, from an RTS point of view, gets to direct the players around and recommend maneuvers and such?

Not quite on-topic, I know. I would love another non-WoW WarCraft game, though. I really miss WarCraft 3.

I personally have loved every game Blizzard has ever produced. That being said, I still love WoW. But the lore has been destroyed from it and therefore if they came out with a new Warcraft RTS it would have to either be in an alternate timeline like you suggested, or to be somehow completely different. It'd definitely be hard, but I think Blizzard could pull it off.
BUT this would detract time on making new WoW expansions which may result in a loss of subscriptions which will result in a loss of money.

So on one hand, they definitly should do it-
But on the other hand, they should concentrate on WoW...
That's what I think :D

Well I for one would love the Idea (never got into WoW myself, but was a huge fan of RoC and TFT)

Why not set the game back during the time when the chaos orcs were still around, perhaps tell the story of the first reign?

I mean blizzard have got enough material to do a story like that, and God knows they are brilliant at putting those sorts of things together in a cool way

Warcraft 4? It could be done, I suppose. What I didn't like about WC3 is that it was slow and too macro heavy. Or micro heavy. I forget which, but I sucked at it and got smurf owned too much. But I'm pretty good at SC1/SC2.

It had a wicked editor for wicked maps in it's later life cycle.

I think it would be pretty hard considering how much has been added in WoW and the WC lore in general. I'd like to see their new IP MMO they're making... then turn that into a RTS game. Reverse-WoWing.

Micro-heavy. Starcraft is more balanced between micro and macro, with micro being a bit more important in higher level play.

I think the Warcraft lore has somewhat been butchered by WoW though, I really like to see how Blizzard is going to explain a bunch of random people wondering around and killing stuff in the lore. Could be interesting, could be a train-wreck.

They have two routes they can go.

One, is an updated version of Warcraft Orcs and humans to Beyond the dark Portal using the new retconned lore they wrote in the books. Which personally I think would be badass.

Two, they could essentially do an RTS version of the events so far in WoW. It's no where near as impossible as some people will tell you (this isn't the first time this thread has popped up) it just would be different.

However, honestly. I would like to See blizzard take a shot at a different world for an RTS. I have to say I am pretty excited at the moment about this new IP they have for an MMO that they have stayed pretty damn tight lipped on.

Essentially. While i love Starcraft and Warcraft (Diablo not so much) I really would like to see them try there hands at something new.

It's generally considered somebody else did it.

In Classic it was Varian who had slain Onyxia. And simply random assassins who killed the leader of the Black Irons. For AQ they could easily just say the Allaince and Horde forces in general defeated the old god(It was a forty man raid after all). For burning Crusade it was Maive and her agents that defeated Illidan. WotLK it was Tirion Fordring who finished off Arthas and turned Bolvar into the new Lich King.

Cataclysm it will likely be Malfurian or The Red Dragon flight who technically kill Nelfarion in the end.

Essentially everything can be explained by either an army did it or tossing a key character in it. They have managed fine thus far.

I wish there were a Warcraft 4, I think Blizzard could easily market it towards the fans who mainly played WoW for the Lore/Story (Myself included), but unfortunately, I don't see why they would as WoW is just too profitable.

It is quite possible there is a Warcraft 4. Think about it the RTS team was making Starcraft 2 for 7 years, after they done Heart of the Void (total of 9 years on starcraft by then) do you really think they want to keep doing more Starcraft? My guess is Warcraft 4. Why? Look at the history. The RTS team Did Warcraft then Warcraft 2 then Starcraft then Warcraft 3 then Starcraft 2. They are rotating between Warcraft and Starcraft.

Could be a new franchise, you never know. Plus they still have to work on Diablo 3.

I would even love the most lazy possible response! Remaking the first to games frame by frame, but add prettier graphics. If Blizzard did that I would metaphorically piss myself with joy.
I personally hate WoW's approach of showing us other points in Warcraft's history. I love the Bronze Dragons and time travel and all that. I just hate using that to show case older points in Warcraft history. It doesn't do those events bloody justice!
