Another "What Would You Do?!?!ONE?" Thread...

And the situation is:

You have an old bolt action rifle, a rusty bayonet which you could probably only get a few stabs out of before it breaks, and a five round clip for said rifle.

The situation, is violent anarchy. Everyone is CONSCIOUSLY coming at each other (no zombies, even I'm starting to be sick of them), and by default, you. They're armed with all manner of weapons, from firearms, to sticks, to knives and everything in between.

You have two choices, stay barricaded in your home for an indefinite amount of time (they'll inevitably get in eventually, and you can't just conjure food (unless you happen to live on a farm)).

OR

You can try your luck with your gun and knife. Let's just assume that you don't have any other weaponize-able objects around. Just to make it interesting. So anyways, you can try to go out and scavenge for food, weapons, ammo etc.

However, this leaves you and your family (and any possible pets) open to obvious risk.

So, what do you do, and how do you do it?

Do they know I'm there, or am I well hidden. If the latter, I'd hide it out, if not, I may try my luck depending on how many are outside, I mean you only really need to get a few and steal their supplies, assuming they have decent supplies that is

I would try to take to the rooftops to break into other peoples houses around here (There are skylights in all houses), and ambush people with the bayonet.

It'd allow me to take out people quickly, easily, and all houses around here have a stock of knives, to replace the Bayonet.

I'd trade the knife and gun for food from the most untrustworthy gentleman I could find.

Take my gigantic German shepard with me, kill my niehbors and take there stuff (Knives, food ect.) and return home.

I'm a necromancer. I send my minions out, anyone they kill is added to my army of minions. I stay in my tower, prepared to kill anyone who isn't one of my minions.

Bam. Success. I survive yet another hypothetical situation.

It's Anarchy in the uninformed sensationalist sense of the word. Not the viable political stance sense.

My immediate response with so few rounds for a rifle would be to avoid using them unless I felt I had to. I would leave my home with a backpack full of hardy supplies and a few litres of water, and try and sneak my way around until I could get into an empty house for more. It's possible they'd have more supplies there I could use, and maybe more weapons that I could make use of. my self defense would depend on what my enemy at the time had. Melee, I'd use either the bayonet or, more likely, the heavy rifle butt to bash an enemy with. I've had more than a bit of self defense and martial arts training, so I feel confident that I could take care of myself against an untrained enemy. The side of a full size rifle is every bit as good as a staff for deflecting an incoming attack.
I would avoid people with guns until I had more ammo; if I knew they'd try to kill me and I had some spare ammunition I'd scrounged up, I'd snipe them.
Otherwise I would try to stay hidden at all costs and just scrounge up anything useful, from garden tools to actual weapons and supplies.
