Anti-Aliasing (Or lack thereof) in New Vegas PS3

Howdy escapists
I decided to get New Vegas for my PS3 because I find it easier to get immersed into console RPGs (On PC I tend to mod the shit out of everything) and because my computer is a bit gay. I was hoping the anti aliasing issue in Fallout 3 was fixed but it seems its back for new vegas. Is this the side effect of a bad port or is this a problem with my TV?

No "GET AN XBUCKS" or "UPGRADE YAR COMPUTERS LOL" comments please.

It's just the way the game is made, it has nothing to do with your television.
Ive seen it on my friends computer and it looked fine.

Does HDMI change anything?

Yeah, your friends computer. The PS3 version I meant. HDMI gives a better quality picture than Y Pb Pr Cables, but only marginally. It's not the reason for the lack of anti-aliasing.

I'm sorry, what exactly is anti-aliasing?
Is very very basic terms, it smooths edges of things. you only really can tell it is there at high resolutions.

In the name of non bashing of the PS3, The Xbox 360 doesn't do anti aliasing either, possibly for the same reason (lack of significant amounts of vram)

Its a damn shame.

Oh well, I was just wondering because its so hard to see things when everything is so jagged.

Ill buy a new tv anyway :p

It's a graphical alteration, that makes edges less jagged and more smooth.

I hope that's cleared up your confusion.

I think more people need to explain to NeedAUserName what AA is. I don't think he gets it yet :p

I trust this will explain.
Aside from the fact that the video could have explained it a bit better I must say this: Oh my god, make the music stop! It hurts my brain I think. :)

On topic though: that's common on any console. Head to your PC to get some proper graphics. The jaggies were really distracting when I played F3 on my console. I since got a new PC and am now playing NV on that. It's smooth as butter. I love it. AA that is. Not the game. The game is alright.

I dunno even some PC games haven't got Anti-Aliasing, mainly ones which were ported from the consoles to the PC. Like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Borderlands. Annoyed me to death not having AA aswell. I mean you can turn it on in the nvidia control panel, but it never does it as well as it would if it was actually built into the game.

God of War 3. It uses a special software AA, and the tech actually came from saboteur.
