I'm an avid gamer, but recently there hasn't really been any releases that have got my hopes up or kept me occupied if i've bought them. My last purchase was Soul Calibur 4 and i unlocked every character and most of the items within a day.

I'm wondering if anyone has any game recommendations to kill some time? I'm generally an rpg fan, i loved the final fantasy series so anything like that i merit with atleast a try. I also like the occasional fps or fighting game, but not many that catch my eye these days.

Any recommendations?

Probably should have mentioned what consoles i have, i've got a PS2, nintendo ds, xbox 360 and a PC (that goes without saying really).
just looking for something that would occupy alot of my ever growing free time. i was thinking of spore, but ive read alot on the forums about it being a broken game and just mini games stuck together so im a bit wary.
I've always been partial to the hack and slash games aswell, the DMC series and dynasty warriors always kept me happy

Right now it's a pretty slow time for game release, what with the holiday season nearby, but I could suggest Mercaniares 2 to you, and if you're a JRPG fan, you might want to know that Infinite Undiscovery was just released.

try out some old ff games on the ds then. I am not a fan, but people seemed pretty pumped at the number 4 remake. That or phantom hourglass, that was a slice of alright. Worst comes to worst, you could always play solitaire.

I was contemplating mercenaries 2, whats it like?
And FF4 was going to be one of my next buys, i bought final fantasy 3 for ds a while back and that kept me occupied for quite a while, and it was enjoyable at the same time.
I'll do some looking into infinite undiscovery. Thanks for those recommendations, i'll look them up now.
i don't think ill ever be bored enough to play solitaire :p, chess titans for the win!

From absolutely everyone even the fans Im hearing Infinite Undiscovery is ok but it's not great, if it's really only mediocre don't get it, if you're in the US get Tales of Vesperia.

kill time, i got alot of mmos i bought and played the trial, they all bored me cept wow. But that's bored me now. I've looked at mercenaries 2 and infinite undiscovery, they seem good but nothing i would pay full tag price for, maybe when they get a little cheaper, final fantasy 4 is a defenite though

Disgaea.

Let me put it this way:

Each and every item has a randomly generated 10+ level dungeon inside it. After most levels of this dungeon, you get more items based on how well you did. Those new items have randomly generated 10+ level dungeons inside them. After most levels of those dungeons you get even more items. Those items have randomly generated 10+ level dungeons inside them...

I think you get where I'm going with this.

Well, if you have a 360, then I suggest looking up the Xbox original game Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders. See if it is to your tastes.

if you like fps and fighting games then get condemned 2 - its a mixture of both with some top notch gameplay and some nice scares - you will find it cheap too if you shop around - i bought it for 20euros last month

Rogue Galaxy will keep you going for a little while. Plot is ok, pretty basic fighting system similar to Kingdom Hearts.

...wow.

And, as someone new to the series who only has the newest one, where do Mao and Raspberyl fit into this?
Who? I was talking about the first game, with Laharl and Etna.
