I ask this because I was talking with my friends recently about iTunes and how there's no decent soundtracks for games on there. They then all laughed at me for listening to game soundtracks. I felt a little embarrassed and I hoped to get a little support on this from you guys. Are there any game soundtracks you listen to on your MP3 player?

Me, personally,
I listen to the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soundtrack at the gym.
I listen to the Guild Wars 2 soundtrack on my daily 45 minute commute to work.
I listen to the Journey Soundtrack when I'm bored and I'm just chilling in my bedroom.

Yep! I started listening to game music because I found that a lot of it is good for studying/doing homework. Maybe something to do with putting you in a state of mind to solve puzzles. I've actually been nabbing tracks I like while I do that and building a VGM playlist to listen to in the car.

Lately I've been listening to:

Skyrim (good for exercising too!)
Deus Ex (original)
VVVVV
Guilty Gear
Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
And most recently, Lone Survivor - just check this track out and you'll see what I mean:

Like... All of it. 90% of my music library is anime and game music. The BlazBlue soundtrack is just godlike.

This theme makes me a better Mu player. I refuse to play online unless I am Player 2

I HAVE to post these in any gaming music thread. Hazama's theme especially. It's just so perfect.

I adore good character themes, no matter which game/anime/whatever they are from. Games are the more common examples though.

I have been listening to the Metal Gear Rising Vocal tracks, and I recently downlaoded the songs from Sam's DLC which is pretty badass. I have also been listening to the songs leaked from FarCry 3; BloodDragon because come on, it's badass 80s synth.

Mass Effect 3. So much. It's just literally so great. I've also listened a bit to music from Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands 2, as the music is quite great in its own right, although they aren't original for all of them.
I listened to the music for Brutal Legend before the game...

Final Fantasy games may have stopped being quality for a long time.

But the soundtracks are timeless. I keep going back year after year just to hear the famous sounds.

Lately, I've been regularly listening to Cave soundtracks. Like for DoDonPachi. Hardly anything that pumps me up more than listening to Longhena Cantata.

I'm right with you there on the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soundtrack, OP.

Those tunes are amazing.

I've got the following and I'm very fond of them:

Bastion
Black Mesa
Bloodlines
Crimsonland (the soundtracks of both v1.3 and v1.9)
Death Illustrated
Frozen Synapse
Mirror's Edge
Morrowind
Quake 3

I like the Mirror's Edge one the most - it's absolutely perfect in any sense. Although the others aren't far behind.

I really like the Anno 2070 soundtrack, especially the eco songs.
Other than that i rarely listen to game soundtracks when not playing.
Mass Effect 3 really had good music too though.

I just got the soundtracks for Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, and Black/White. And have listened to them a fair amount.

I listen to a fair amount of OSTs, but very few I would describe as being "regular".
Most are just a representation of what I'm feeling or what I haven't heard in a while.
Closest that comes to being regular would be Shatter because it's that amazing.
Indies represent.

Mass Effect 3, and Deus Ex HR. I'm not certain why but I really like them, and not just because they remind me of the game or anything like that.

I've got quite alot of shmup music on my MP3 player as the genre is awash with upbeat enegetic music, Especially CAVE shmup soundtracks and remix / arrange albums. Dodonpachi Diafukkatsu (the black label album rocks for exercising too), Akia Katana and Mushihimisama and several remix albums of that original.

This the my fave Mushi arrange tune atm
These are a couple of other (none CAVE) shmup tunes I like too.
OTHER GENRES
Wipeout OST's especially the PS1 games are on my MP3 players

As is the Langrisser (Warsong) series
Ghost Lullaby from Crayon Physics is the most relaxing piece of music I think I've ever heard.

Edit while not a VG tune but a OST of a anime based off a game, almateria is worth mentioning.

Timesplitters 2 and 3. 1 is a little TOO electronic for my liking.
Borderlands 1 and 2.
Killing Floor. Good ol' thrash.
Fallout 3.
Skyrim.

All fantastic soundtracks. I don't often listen to "normal" music, but maybe if I listened to the radio more often or watched music channels on TV, I'd find more of it that I like. One VGM that I have a special place in my heart for, though...

Those were the days...this is good music for running.

Bastion of course.
Mass Effect Series.
While I don't listen to the rest of the soundtrack all that much, "Honor for All" from Dishonored is currently one of my favourites:
Edit: And how could I forget, I also regularly listen to the soundtracks form both Oblivion and Skyrim.

Final Fantasy X is great, Zanarkand is a beautiful song if i'm looking for a quiet, relaxing tune. The FIFA soundtracks often have bands on that I listen to anyways, so not really sure if that counts.
Apart from that, not really that i'm aware of.

All 3 Mass Effects OSTs (not all the songs are great, but there are a lot of good ones), Deus Ex:HR soundtrack and the Skyrim soundtrack are the only ones from games that I currently own. I have a lot more movie soundtracks in my collection though.
