I just feeling like a bit of a minority and wanted to see if there were any other cheap arse gamers out there. I personally have never owned more than one console from any generation, and currently only own a PC for this generation. It seems like alot of people buy more than one console these days. What's more i only like to pay 30 bucks or less for a game. So Ebay has become a great friend, and sometimes steam. Sometimes i'll pay full price for a game if i really really want it, but that's pretty rare. Also i often download games (don't hurt me), though if i do really like it i will buy it, for example i downloaded Eets and really liked it so i bought it off steam. So am i alone, or is there anybody else who's as cheap as me.

When it comes to consoles I try to own a few to keep my gameing possblities open. I love finding great games for low prices and will impulse but for games that are used or on sale. I really want to want the game to lay down a full 60 bucks on launch day. The only game i've done with that latly was Tales of Vesperia last August.

yeah, tbh, I don't even own any of the consoles from this generation, but have my laptop, which is also 3 years old, so yeah, I tend to just play the good games at friends, and spend the rest of my time picking up very cheap games for the PS2 :D

Usually not, but the Weekend Deals from Steam slowly turn me into one.

I buy a xbox 360, my dad has a nice computer for work purposes and my brother bought a Wii. But I'll probably just stick with one console in college just because I won't have the funds to be able to purchase big titles from two consoles

The last time I paid full price for a game was MadWorld, but it was going for 30 quid. Before that I hadn't bought a game for full prince for about 4 years.

I always buy my games on Amazon and I almost never buy anything at full price. If it's used or cut price, I'll buy it.

The main reason for this is because there are too many games I want and not enough money to buy them. To me this is the only logical course of action.

Horribly so. While I do own all the current-gen consoles from my earlier hole-in-pocket days, I now only buy games if I can find a discount for them. I set price goals for myself - for example, I desperately want Bioshock for the PS3, but I've resolved not to purchase it until I can find it for 19.99 or under. When I bought inFamous, the deciding factor between Newegg and Amazon was that I wouldn't have to pay tax with Newegg. When I got my new monitor/HDTV, Amazon got my dollar because they had a rebate going on for it.

/cheap ass to the max

Actually there's an entire website [http://www.cheapassgamer.com/] made by and for people who don't like buying games at full price.

I am definitely one of those people - paying $60 for a game seems ridiculous to me, especially when games only a year old can be had for half that price.

I once got a collection of games from my sister's boyfriend Gareth when I was younger (mostly discount stuff) and in this pack included Halo 1, Fable and Otogi Myth of Demons (the final one being a game I loved so much I made a whole review on that and the first one.... you already know by now).

But you know what I hate overpriced games, I went out on a whim to go get Halo Wars (simply because I was going to start RTSing so I needed a simple thing to start with) it cost $80 Australian dollars. I had forty.
then there was the time I braved the PS3 section of the game store (I'm an Xboxer to the core) to get a friend a game for his PS3 and I decided he needed a game with aliens in it so I decided to get him a copy of Resistance... $109 Australian dollars.
FUCK THAT
I thought, I don't like him THAT much. So I got him a preowned copy which cost much less. I love preowned.

Awesome, my PC's about 3/4 years old also, it lags playing Thief 3 to give an example.

I guess i like saving money, but probably more i just hate being dissapointed when i pay full price or close full for a game. If i pay 15 bucks for a game and it's crap it's no biggie.

Cost isn't a factor for me. I don't spend a lot on games because I only buy quality and, frankly, there isn't very much out there of it.

I hate spending more than £20 on games!

CeX is great for that on oldish games, i swear i get the majority of 'big' games 1-2 years behind everyone else!

lol. Preowned ftw. I like getting pre-owned too, it cuts the price in half sometimes (or more) and from a decent store like EB the condition of the disc isn't actually that bad. More than $100 is abysmal, a game either has to be either perfect or incredibly long to be that price, or both!

CeX are a rip-off if you try to sell anything to them though. But I guess it's better than the 12 quid for a new game GameStation or GAME would give you.

I'll tell you what I've started to do though, any games which I'm positive I'll like, I'm starting to get brand new to support the developers and the industry itself. Used games help no one but the direct seller, but the majority of games I get used, I wouldn't get at all if they weren't cheap or used.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

That is definately a downside in that you don't support the developer. That's why i never download independent games, plus they're normally only about 10-20 bucks on steam lol.

I'm a freelance game reviewer, so I got to own all the consoles and handhelds.
