Any other civilization/spore space age like games?

Pretty much the title. Platform is the PC before you ask.

So really what im looking for is a game where you rule a large empire kinda thing. I found the spore space age far too shallow for me, and civ can be a bit "small" and "restrictive" if that makes sense.( Still a very fun game though.)

Don't be too restiricted by the above, just anything in the control-a-lot-of-people genre. Be it Black and white style or Civ style

I think my love for these games may be a hint at a personality defect.

Master of Orion 2 might be a good place to start, it's old and the balance is dire, especially for custom created races, but it's a fun intro to 4x iiiinnn spaaaace.

It's a decade old now but Sid Meier's Alpha Centurai is along those kinda lines. If you want something more up to date try Sins of a Solar Empire.

Try Startopia. I never finished it, but it's actually a pretty fun game.

Loved Startopia to bits, buts its more akin to Sim City in spaaaaaace than Civ.

Downloaded Sins of a solar empire demo and LOVED it. Where has this game been all my life?!

Anyway, thanks for you other suggestions, I definatly found some games to buy in the future. (but not before Sins )
