Burn an Ubuntu disk, then install it. Much better of an interface, and I promise* it won't mess your console** up.

--> Katamari normally trumps anything that can be labeled "silliness", but if you own a PSP, get Patapon I and II. Those games are fun and quirky too, and have cool strategy and RPG elements. It's a rhythme-based game, so it that's not your thing...
--> Valkyria Chronicles is an RPG with strategy mixed in. Psuedo turn-based, but really fun.
--> Borderlands combines FPS and RPG genres, but I've never played it. Think Diablo meets an FPS, and you'll get the idea.
--> Dragon Age: Origins is more of a straightforward D&D-type game, but it's a Western RPG, if that's ok.
--> Ratchet and Clank Future! The R+C series is my favorite above all others!
--> You like FPS games, but no one has suggested Call of Duty? Weird...
--> Don't overlook download-able games too! I prefer PixelJunk: Monsters, Bomberman, Burn Zombie Burn, and PAIN, myself.

Here are my bargain bin, PS3 exclusives recommendations:
Shooters
Killzone 2
This is the best looking game I've seen on the PS3. The FPS mechanic is solid, multiplayer is fun and the story isn't an eyesore. The only bad thing about it is the lack COOP.
Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Fun, action packed and good looking. Once over, the story isn't too bad either. However, the coop is mission based, so you can't play coop in story mode which is a bit of a bummer. For story mode coop, you can play the first Resistance: Fall of Man which should be pretty much for free in the bargain bin at the moment.
RPG's
Well, as far as I know, there aren't any exclusive PS3 WRPG's at the moment, but if you haven't played Fallout 3 or Oblivion yet, they look good on the PS3. However, in the action RPG dept we find:
Demon's Souls
Now this game has got a lot going for it. It has a Diablo sort of feel to it, has beautiful graphics and super sharp controls. Lot's of polish and it is a joy to guide your character through the first fortress. And you will be guiding your character through the first level A LOT, because the game is insanely hard. I loved the old school feel and unforgiving game mechanic witch forces you to learn the hard way. There is no regenerative healing here, and you can't even level up your character until you have beaten the games first boss. A bit different compared to todays nannyfied games, like MW2 etc. If you like a challange and have a fair bit of spare time on your hands, go for it.

This game is like a stress therapy session. Beautiful, engaging and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Trine
This is sort of an old school platformer/pussle/RPG hybrid, where you guide your Rogue, Wizard and Knight through mazes, magical forests and dungeons littered with the undead. Hugely fun, and can be played cooperatively.
These are the best PS3 exclusives in my mind. I may have forgotten one or two, but I'll get back to you later.
Also, considering you stated you don't like JRPG's, I see a worrisome amount of recommendations for Valkyria Chronicles. This is a fun game, but have all the super anime things that you probably don't like much, such as engrish dialog, dysfunctional story hooks, naive heroes, even more naive female characters, androgynous men, etc etc. I like the mix of Action RPG/RTS, but it certainly isn't for everyone.
