/v/'s pretty much as shit as /b/ in terms of 4chan boards. I like spending my time on /ck/(for cooking tips), /fit/ (for lifting tips) and /lit/ (for writing and philosophizing tips), the smaller a board is the better I think. /v/ and /b/ give the whole of 4chan a bad name, most of the boards are specialized boards with some funny-ass users and a community that isn't afraid to tell people to fuck off if they're being a twat, and you can actually get some really good discussion in sometimes.

Still, at least you can make Nintendo threads and get at least 30 replies, I've seen literally no discussion on any specific Nintendo games here for months.
I've been talking about Fire Emblem here since I got it two weeks ago... I suppose there hasn't been a thread discussing it that I have seen, but there are plenty of people around who're willing to talk Nintendo.

Does someone want to explain to me exactly what it is you guys are talking about?

I'd just like to say that I judge anyone who spends their time at /v/ in a serious capacity.

The only legitimate excuse for ever visiting /v/ is for the guilty pleasure of watching the absolute worst and most abject aspects of mankind in motion.

When I decided to murder my brain and go there I saw one that I think was about it. It had a lot of pictures of some anime girl in tight black clothes and... compromising positions.

Anyone here goes onto /v/, /vr/, or /vg/?

Love going there for the lulz but also cuz they know how to have fun and there is actual good discussions from time to time. You just gotta know what thread to go to and their MGS threads are really awesome

They have lots of useful information and speculation

in my experience

I used to browse there heavily a few years ago. Ultimately I stopped because like Delerien says, it's a really, really unpleasant place. The hivemind attitude is extremely negative, and I found after staying there so long I had become really stupidly jaded about the most inane shit.

/vg/ on the other hand is pretty good. A good place for long threads about niche genres or series. It's still don't go there often because I don't have anything to add to the discussion a lot of the time, but it's definitely one of the few "good" boards. Probably because it doesn't have its own memes and in-jokes and "flavor of the month", it's just a straight up, on topic discussion board. I also really like the habit they've got of creating guides for newcomers to the series/genre and how they're generally really helpful to people who want to get into a certain game/genre/series/whatever.

I decided to see what the fuss is about a few days ago and honestly I can't see why anyone would want to go there.
It's full of cunty people being elitist and badgering on about how this and that is the reason gaming is dead and how the newest hippest game is one of the worst things to happen to the human race. Not a fun place to be.
Like this forum has the high ground? (We don't)

I've found that smaller forums generally have a more interesting posterbase than larger ones. Things are more familiar and I've seen more kickass discussions on smaller ones than huge forums like this.

4chan a wretched hive of scum and villainy. I'll never go there.
Why, you read Fox News? Try thinking for yourself before making irrational judgments. It'd be nice to see a lot less jackassery that way.

No, but there's occasionally some crude joke that I see tossed into /tg/.

Lots of trolls and mean people. Sadism runs rampant. Also one of the least fertile places for feminism and video games on the internet.

I like some piece of 4chan /v/ culture better than the Escapist. For instance, it's possible to actually find Touhou fans. After getting banned from some Touhou sites, I basically have no one to talk to about my most favourite gaming franchise ever. Though I might at least be able to start a thread about Touhou on /v/ if /jp/ didn't exist and they would just re-direct me there.

Also, while there's a whole bunch of people on /v/ who are PC gaming elitists and hate jRPGs in favor of wRPGs, just like the Escapist, there's at least a pretty large subculture of them, thanks to, of course, being 4chan. 4chan is not the random board, the random board was an invasion of terrible people. 4chan is /a/. So of course a lot of /a/ culture is going to be present on /v/. /a/ has a lot of horrible crap on it though, as well. Not the least of which misogyny, racism, and a whole swath of sadism and meanness.

I personally wish I could pick and choose the best aspects of 4chan and fuse them into one board.

Even Fox News can be right.

4chan is an "Internet Hate Machine" with some very rare occasions of genuine empathy and understanding.

A lot of places on the internet are pretty nasty and cruel. But 4chan has been very good at taking that an extra level and breeding an environment where any kind of love and understanding is expunged.

I don't like /b2.0/. /v/ and /mu/ are boards that I could like in theory, but the community within them are just... not my style.

I've browsed /vg/ a couple times, but it seems like they all talk about the same five or six games. So... maybe I'll go try /vr/ sometime.

You know that there are 48(?) boards that aren't /b/, correct? And /v/. And /d/. Like most everything, the utter shit is in the minority.

Sometimes, it may be full of shitposters but at least they usually have a good taste in games and actual discussions. I'm more of an /a/non than a /v/irgin though.

I'm constantly on /vg/ just lurking in a couple of threads. Never been to /v/ or /vr/ though.

/a/ is loaded with misogynists, sadists, and delusional 3D haters.
/mlp/ is filled with some of the worst of the My Little Pony fandom.
/jp/ is loaded with all of the same problems as /a/
/mu/ those losers said that no one likes black metal, they said I was stupid, they said I needed to get a life.
Little did they know... black metal, IS MY LIFE
/int/ racism
/pol/ racism
