It was my sleeping series. If I couldnt sleep I would just watch the X-Files and bam! dream valley here I come!

The stories were good...the characters were horrible and made the stories horrible...

I liked alot that spin off series..uurr...Lone Gunmen I think...those 13 episodes were better than the whole X-Files series...and they cancelled it...bastards.

I started the series from the beginning a few months ago, been watching episodes here and there.

I thought the first seasons were pretty good, had a lot of mystique to em, but I don't like where I'm at now, don't have the desire to watch anymore. I think Season 5 midway through..

Mulder and Scully could always make a good imaginative yarn confusing. Clear thinking? That's for crazies! I never watched it all that much, but it was quality entertainment.

Loved this show.
Aside from just the stories and characters, which were great, the music, lighting, line production and especially the cinematography was excellent - and for all that the show wandered towards the end, it had a good ending, and there were dozens of kick ass memorable episodes. FOX just killed the show by dragging it out too long.
My fav episode:
JOSE CHUNG'S FROM OUTER SPACE
it was a great spoof of the alien abduction story, really funny, and kind of scary at the same time - and it had jesse ventura AND alex trebek.

I was unimpressed at first, then got sucked in by my roommate during Season 4 and was obsessed with the show up until they moved the filming to LA. Then the quality got incredibly variable, and I just gave up about the time they brought in Robert Patrick.

But damn, Scully was hot.

I will always remember the lines:
"that's a bleepin' dead alien" and
"I didn't play D&D for all those years without learning something about courage. "

When the writing was on, it was as good a show as was on TV at the time. "Bad Blood" was another great episode.

I reviewed the last X Files film [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.71323#719792]on here a long time ago, and that was alright I suppose. Never really had the patients to sit down and try and involve myself in the show though. That being said I could probably see myself enjoying it if I did.

I quite liked it as a series, but like so many of them, the last season or two is something I wish I'd never seen. Why can't people finish a good series while it's still at least vaguely good? Season six had some awesome episodes though, like Triangle and The Ghosts Who Stole Christmas. =)

The show was fun, at least up to the first movie, after that I don't know, because I stopped watching. I did, however, watch the second film and I must say, top 5 all time worst movies ever. They took what would have been a lame episode and stretched it to two hours.

I like X-files. A few months ago they aired them on one of the public national channels in Denmark :D

I absolutely love the X-files up to and including the first film. Once Mulder gets 'abducted' and taken out of the show it got pretty bad. Every episode was the same. Darget (SP) was the naive sceptic and Scully was spooky Mulder. You had this in pretty much every episode:

Scully: I think the tortoise did it. Did you know, the Inuits lived in Alaska because they didn't trust tortoises? They represent evil in their culture..

Agent Darget: Agent Scully, I know you told me to keep an open mind but what you're suggesting is...

Oh, and the less said about the second film the better. It was mostly horrible. Especially the pointless waving at the camera at the end *shudder*
