I hate to ask, but I require assistance from the Escapist, pretty please?

The problem is, whenever I try to download something, the file will begin and go as usual. Then I try and open it, and nothing happens. I try to right click, the open tab is greyed out.

Any help on how to open my downloads? Please?

EDIT: Oh yeah, discussion value. Have you ever encountered a computer problem you just couldn't fix?

I had this once. I can't remember what I did to fix it. I think play with the advanced settings in Firefox to see if there's anything there stopping you from opening the files. Also check the destination directory for the downloads, see that it exists and isn't somewhere weird like on a flash drive that you've since removed, a network area that you don't have access to or some other non-valid or inaccesible location.

Have you tried downloading anything with IE/Google Chrome? It might work that way.

The "downloads" box for Firefox has been a bit buggy on me at times...

I tried the same file on Internet Explorer and same problem came up. I set the destination to my desktop to see if it came up, and when the download finished it never appeared.

This almost certainly has the answer. One can easily set firefox such that it will refuse to open many kinds of files as a security precaution. If you don't care to turn off such a feature, simply checking the download directory should be all it takes to access the file in question

Since it's Vista I have a feeling that a security popup that should have come up, don't come up.

I'd say, try chrome or IE for just 1 download and see if it works.

And try to look for an additional security popup that you didn't get with Firefox : )

I'm not sure its that, but it may be...
