Anyone else annoyed by this?

So I've been watching the Gaming Baftas for the last hour, and something has been irritating me. What irritates me is when they get celebrities to come on the award shows just for the sake of having celebrities, especially when they don't know anything about the games or how they work. It's obvious they don't know what anybody is talking about, and it's quite patronizing and degrading. Am I the only one who thinks we should get people in the games industry on award shows like this? I mean, I'd rather have Nolan North present an award than Joe Calzaghe, who may I add was quite offensive. He just walked off right after introducing the award, without shaking hands or even nodding.

yeah it's pathetic, I agree with the patronizing stuff as well, most of them don't know anything about it like you said which makes it awkward to present them in my opinion

All gaming award shows right now are bullshit and a terrible representation of our culture (ahem Spike VGAs). Someone needs to do something about that.

G4's Gphoria (or how ever you spell it) use to be a more respectable award show... until they started to follow the VGA formula. /facepalm

The moment that bandanna-wearing, meat head Marcus Phoenix won "Best New Character" over Amaterasu is the moment I lost all respect for that show.

When you let the "public decide" on who wins what award, then all a game/movie/etc. has to do to win nearly everything is be popular. That's why letting the "public decide" at these awards shows is a bad idea.

The Game Developer's Choice Awards is now all we have.

Jerry and Mike giving REAL presentations and real awards to those who deserve it.

And if you must have celebrities, have ones who have had a part in video games! Like Patrick Stewart. You know you want to see that.

I don't understand the whole celebrity thing. I mean, are they really necessary? It's not like most of them are role models or even anything we should aspire to be, so what is going on? And have them appear for some occasion when they don't know anything about it is just stupid.
