Well thanks to their massive advertising campaign (sarcasm) I dicovered STALKER call of pripyat is being released in western europe and America on the 5th of Feb.
I have been long looking forward for a new zone to get wet and scared in, and thoughout last years gut of hype, didn't see any other game worth getting excited about.
Anyone else looking forward to it i na similar degree?

Yes, especially since Clear Sky wasn't very good at all.
From what I've heard it's better than Shadow of Chernobyl, and that's definitely saying something.

Better than SOC? Thats a big wait and see, but I have heard good things about it for the most part. I enjoyed Clear Sky alot once it was modded to hell.

As great as the core concepts of the games are, they don't have a great track record for polish. Plus, despite being open-world, the side-quests always feel very lacking. Even if I can put up with the mundane "find me a flesheye's foot" sometimes I can't even find enough of them. If they can somehow get that, I may consider it.

I really really really wish I could get into STALKER, while the premise is awesome, the constant quicksave/quickload makes me feel like Im cheating my way through the game.

Still the new one looks great!

From what I have heard, the side quests have had a major overhaul and are much more varied and and engaging. Same goes for the polishing, the game has been out in Russia and Eastern Europe for a good few months now, so I am going by their reveiws, but they have stablised the engine alot and performance is much better.

I enjoyed the first STALKER, but I'm nolonger interested in any sequels. Clear Sky was crap.
The series is dead and should be given a decent burial already.

Polish, no. But they DO have a track record of being revered as making F.E.A.R look like a Disney movie for sheer atmosphere and terror, the most intricate and realistic fire arm system (upgrade / ammunition diversity) of any FPS/RPG Hybrid ever made (Not to mention the upgrades were actually APPLICABLE to what modifying a fire arm would be in real life), and is quite possibly the most under rated hidden gem in the history of shooters.

I like to think of it as a well kept secret from my friends who know only consol and froth at the mouth for games as mediocre Bio shock, Halo, and Dead Space.

But polish....no STALKER has not been kind to us with that... Because in Ukraine, video game play YOU
