So, anyone else not like steams customer support? I mean I had some simple questions regarding their region restrictions, not very deep questions and they kept asking for really detailed information, like scans of my passport and drivers licence as well as credit card info that they already had, All through out that I wasn't even asking for them to do anything.

This information was not available on the FAQ and I went through this a few times. They take days and days to respond to emails. They refuse to address questions about why they need certain information.

My bank doesn't ask me to show them a copy of my passport, and IT'S MY BANK! They're not trying to sell me video games, they literally handle my financial well being, and yet still steam asked for this info.

I'm I wrong in this? Should I be apologizing to them? Am I the only one who doesn't like the way they do things? If I am I'll shut up.

I've only ever had to contact steam support once, and it was because my account got stolen. I sent them an email about it and a day and a half later I had my account back in my possession and had been refunded for anything bought from the moment that the account password had been changed I'd been locked out.

All in all I had a fairly positive experience with the whole thing.

I have heard quite a few horror stories about steam's customer service, but I've personally only ever had one experience with them and they didn't do anything wrong. They promptly got me back all my games no questions asked. Honestly I think that all customer support for any company is a mixed bag. Sometimes you have a great interaction and sometimes you get shit on and treated like you're wasting people's time because some employees just don't give a fuck about actually helping you.

Yeah perhaps it's just a timing thing. I really didn't like how they took 2 or 3 days to reply to may email alone.
I have heard the horror stories too but sometimes this sends a message that they are just not interested in hearing from you.

This is why people pirate games.

Me too. I contacted them, they responded, everything was fine. That's my entire experience with them. I can't say I like or dislike them since I can't say I've used them enough to have an opinion.

My valuables in my TF2 backpack got stolen when I fell for that stupid-ass trade scam (back when it was not common knowledge).

I emailed them, and about 4 days later, my backpack was completely refreshed, though it came with a cryptic message basically saying "it's your fault for being a dumbass and allowing this to happen to you - we're doing this for you this ONE time, so don't fuck up again".

I wasn't really impressed by that, and later still I learned that my items weren't returned to me, but rather, they were duplicated. In layman's terms, this means they hit the refresh button, which means that that shitbag thief has all my original items, while I have duplicate copies of them.

Not a big deal, unless you go to sell them or trade them. If someone does their research on your offers, they'll see that your items are dupes (duplicates), which means that they're basically counterfeit, and therefore worthless.

Weather it's a game not working properly or regarding anything they always gave poor service.

And don't even think of asking for a refund.
Main reason I only get games on GOG is they are much nicer. Hell EA has better Customer service on Orgin.
