ok. well dear escapiststststs. my father has messed up the computer...again. i have been able to fix it the past few times.but this time. i cant. everything went back to look of classic windows. the icons, the start menu and toolbar. even the internet. its very very annoying. is there anyway i can get it to go back to the look of it when it was in like normal vista state and not all blocky and gray and depressing?

i tried to change the themes and such. none of that worked.

"feel like helping?" No.
"feel like being a sarcastic jerk?" No, of course not.

Seriously though...
Try sifting through your system properties... that' probably where the fuck-up happened.

Right click the desktop, click "Personalize". Go to "Windows Color and Appearance". Go to advanced options, and then pick the style you want.

Okay, I shall try...
Go to your desktop. Right click. Personalise.
Theme, second to last option on the list.
Should be able to use the drop-down menu on the window that brings up.
Hope that helps.

This is just a random suggestion because I don't want to repeat what's there.

He hasn't logged you into/created a new default profile with no theme (you know like when, in '98 or whatever, you'd press 'cancel' instead of typing your password and you'd get that crap desktop) or whatever has he? You'd be surprised what the computer illiterate can do ;o)

Ack!? People actually love the default Vista look!?

I don't understand you -_-

Maybe it's because I was growing up with Windows (and DOS...), but I'm in love with Windows 98 look. No lame glistening 3d-ish pictures, those remind me of Mac too much.

You're welcome. I can only suggest, if nowt else works, perhaps re-installing Vista (I know, what a pain, but sometimes we have to rewind and start over with a big tantrum and finally, resolve hehe)

Not sure if that version of windows has it, but have you tried a System Restore?

If all else fails, wipe the lot and start over. Smack your dad's hand and tell him to stop messing around with the options. And, importantly, create one Admin account, and then another more restricted one for him to use. That tends to help, I find, since you can then delete the faulty settings along with the restricted account and recreate it.

Has your PC perhaps been restarted in safe mode?
If so, you might want to restart it, or look for the 'turn safe mode off' button.
