Sh*t one buddy.

Where in England did ya move? I would recommend going for a drink with one or two people you have befriended over there and drown your sorrows. That is a good start. It will help you grieve a little, you can share the burden that weighs on you and in the process get to know a few new people.

If you and your girl are meant to be together then nothing will get in the way of that and best mates will always be mates!

My best retrospective advice would have been to stay in Canada. Now that you're in the motherland though I guess just try to meet new people and see the sights! It'd be cool to see Downing Street and all that I reckon. I'd also start brushing up on your local English Premier League team. Nothing'll get you mates faster than being a part of the football culture.

I suggest you start drinking tea.

That or make new friends, and keep in touch with your old ones. And break up with your girlfriend, long distance relationships suck (figuratively speaking, in fact you won't be getting any head any more unfortunately). I would think that being good friends would be better then to hang on to a dying relationship.

I'm not an expert though, so I'd stick with drinking tea.

How come you moved to england?

It really isn't that bad a place, and there are lots of great people here - where abouts are you?

Long distance relationships suck but it could be a great strengthener. She might be able to come visit and you can be the one to show her all this exciting new stuff/places etc.

Good friends are friends no matter where they are so they will be able to encourage you from afar, mail, text, phone etc. I know it's not the same but if you can makes friends back home you can build realationships here.

My biggest piece of advice is avoid loneliness, involve yourself with people as fast as possible. Whatever the reason you are here you must develop a social group, being on your own all the time will just make things harder for you.

Don't start drinking! It may never end. I recommend a series of short and superficial relationships that are purely about the sex. Pay for it if you have to (hookers need to earn a living too.) Just remember to wrap it and keep yourself clean. Other than that enjoy yourself and make friends. The other posters are right, get social.

You'll make new friends, and can still stay in touch with your old ones through the internet. About the girlfriend, did you break up with her? If not, then I don't see the problem. I've been in a long-distance relationship for about one and a half years now, and it works fine if you want it to. You'll get to see eachother occasionally, if you're willing to put time, money and effort into it. And in the meantime, you have the internet and phones to stay in touch. If you think it'd be too expensive to use phones between countries, I'm pretty sure you can use "skype", and internet phone-service that doesn't cost anything.

Being far away from someone doesn't mean you've lost them. Cheer up.

There's a Wales in the UK too! We're always forgotten (not really having a go or anything, it's hard to put across tone of voice in text form)

On-topic though, go for a friendly pint or take up a hobby of some sort so you meet new people. If your mates are real mates the distance shouldn't change anything.

Seek Escapists in England! There must be some near you :D

I am in Bath, it's a woefully dull town in the south-west with a good university, many old people and buildings and not a lot else.

Wales does not count! Your like the english but with a weird accent! Or as Ultimate X-men put it, 'Their like the scots without the sex appeal, or the irish without the laughs' And we all know if comics say it, it MUST be true.

Also a Northern Ireland.

But if you don't mind me asking, why'd you move to the UK anyway?

DAMN! I didn't know comics said it now I have no defence, back to my unsexy, mirthless corner I go.

To the OP, have you moved to a big city or small town?

You're in quite a nice area of the country, just get out and meet people. It'll probably be a big change, but I'm sure that after you settle in you'll be ok.

Then go to a nearby bar, drink few Guinesses and get into a fight.
