Funny, just the other day me and a friend made a list of all my fetishes because I always seemed to have a new one every day. It only came out as 15 or so, not as impressive as I had hoped, but

Like as in it's a lot easier to clean up someone urinating all over someone else when the act took place in a bathtub? No carpet or bed to soak into and cause foul smells, water's right there to rinse it off to keep the foul smells off of you...

I don't understand the desire to shy away from one aspect of sexuality while embracing another (Might be because I was a virgin until about 17). If you're doing it right, that is, you've waited until you're comfortable enough to talk about pretty much ANYTHING with your partner, you should talk about what you feel is appropriate during sex and what would make the experience (more) enjoyable for you. It's a different experience for different people, and what I get out of sex isn't any where NEAR the same as what my boyfriend gets out of sex, and what I like during sex doesn't necessarily match up with what he likes, but we both make compromises and learn. I don't understand how age would play a roll in this interaction, if it was present.

That's just fine to have a squick point. I'm pretty sure everyone does (sorry for ignoring the people who don't, I love you too, guys!). It's just good to realize that your squick point isn't the same as someone else's, and you should both be able to talk about or do what you're comfortable with.

Anyways, I would say that I don't really even find the idea of fetishes valid, so while I probably do have some strange (in a relative sense) sexual predilections, I don't consider them fetishes, and I don't really find myself bound to them by any means.

We assign a certain set of things as having "sexual values," and all other things to which people find themselves sexually attracted are considered fetishes. Sexual predilections drawn from the first category (T&A, youth, boyish good looks, beauty or handsomeness, etc...) are called "normal" and sexual predilections derived from the second category, those we call fetishes, abnormal. But it just seems too arbitrary to me, normal and abnormal are relative terms, one meaningless without the other, and there isn't some spot where one can go to read the magical universal laws written by whatever the divine powers that be are which state decisively what is or is not normal to find sexually attractive. At best, we can say that these things occur across a continuum, with more commonly held desires at one end, and less commonly held desires at the other, but if this is the case then we face the classic logic class problem, "the problem of the heap," here this means that there are no clear cut rules for how to decide what is or is not a fetish, and since my personal take on the issue is that it does more harm than good to even bother differentiating I do not look at the term fetish as having validity.

I think for the most part, going by the strictest definition, being aroused by any non-genital part of the body or the body as a whole and any act that isn't sex is grounds for being labeled a paraphilia, as it is deriving sexual pleasure from something not necessarily associated with sex. Normality and abnormality of the fetish or paraphilia has nothing to do with how it is labeled, only with how it is received in the general public. Colloquially, one might not call being attracted to breasts or ass a fetish because it is so common, but as for the basic definition, it would still fall under that umbrella.

In any case, in common language, fetish is a useful term for denoting sexual predilections without resorting to the use of $5 words x3.
