Anyone here use Tinder? Post your experiences

Tinder is described by many people as "Online dating, but cool." , and it's helping to shake off some of the sigma of using the internet to find partners (or hookups).

I'm wondering if anyone here uses it, and if anyone has any interesting Tinder stories to tell.

(EDIT: And I suppose if you use a different form of online dating, you can feel free to post about that here too, to keep the thread interesting.)

No, I don't use Tinder. Last I checked, it required having a Facebook. And since I don't have a Facebook... well...

Yes, it was very cool. I even got several matches. Not one replied to me, though. Then there was this one girl who immediately unmatched me when I sent her a message. For an average-looking guy Tinder is a dump. After uninstalling that I took up a regular online dating site and now I get a decent amount of indifferent, some even quite cold, replies, but a couple of nice ones too. No dates as of yet. My expectations are low.

Hmm, well I had one lady who agreed to meet me on there only to tell me that she was six months pregnant and just broke up with her boyfriend just as we started talking a week or two ago. I feel a bit mean since her head was probably in a weird place but I told her that I didnt want to get involved this drama and maybe have the baby first before you go chasing other blokes and deleted her.

Another one agreed to go on a coffee date and then put me off at the last minute twice, the second time she put me off just an hour before, and I was all done up to go see her already so I told her when she asked to reschedule again that I didnt think she must really want to meet up and deleted her too. If you are keen you maybe mess up one meeting but you have motivation to make it happen right? Oh well.

So I think its a bit shit for actually finding a girlfriend and dating, but if you're the casual sex type and take really good photos(unlike me on both counts), then I think its a pretty good tool for just getting laid.

Out of my own personal experience? Meh. Most people I tried to like (swipe right for, I think) never matched and I ended up awkwardly shutting my profile down when I ran into my ex who later inquired about my presence on it (that convo was quite interesting haha)

A lot of my friends use it though and from what they've told me its absolutely fantastic for casual sex, but when it comes to the more meaningful stuff like finding a proper significant other you're chances of success are much lower (but possible, I know one who got a six month relationship out of Tinder which is something)

I don't have Tinder, but I've seen enough of my sister's experience with it to stay as far away as possible. Basically Tinder is fantastic if you're reasonably attractive and looking for casual hookups, if you want something that lasts though, you'll have better luck elsewhere.

That being said, I've gotten a seven month (and still going well) relationship out of OKCupid, which some people will say isn't any good either, so whatever works for you.
