I know emulation and stuff is a dodgy discussion and treacherous waters for a thread here but I wondered if anyone was into Wii softmods and emulation? My Wii's been stuck on a shelf for well over a year but recently I stumbled on a guide to soft modding it through an SD card exploit.

I've done the deed and my shiny virginal black box of Ninty goodness is now ready to be violated by the world of non Nintendo licensed software but I'm a bit stuck as to where to go from there..?

I kinda get how to make backups of my own Wii games but as for some classic SNES/NES emulation for instance I'm a bit lost - the homebrew channel is confusing and there don't seem to be any simple guides to this kinda thing..

So.. any wii homebrewers wanna help out a noob? And if this post is well against site policy then apologies and I accept the punishment, I ain't no pirate - I just wanna play some lost classics on my Wii :)

As long as we're just talking about the emus, I think it's legit. Anyway, the WiiBrew wiki is your friend:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Category:Homebrew_console_emulators
Most of the pages have guides and links to the project's site, in most cases all you have to do is copy the folder called /apps to the root of the SD card. If your Wii is tweaked properly you should see a new icon when you go into the homebrew channel, click on that. the HBC was designed to make things more streamlined, if you got the softmod done you've already finished the hard part.

I'm not good at it. My brother does most of it. I just like some of the stuff he gets.

Favorite: Brawl Minus. I love it so much...

Just make sure the Nes/Snes games you Emulate are NOT available on the Wiiware store, or that will be pirating. Other then that yeah try the Wiibrew wiki.
